I get the argument that CPJ has done some things that no coach had done at Tech in a very long time. At some point, that can no longer be the argument to keep him.

His offense limits our ability to recruit and to attract new fans. The crowds at BDS are shrinking. The talent gap between us and the UGAys and Clemmons of the world is growing.

I think we could stand to learn something from Atlanta United. Adopt a high flying Big IX offense that scores a lot of points and is exciting. Take our chances with that. It can’t get much more pathetic.

The crowds in every college football stadium are shrinking.

You can crow all you want about recruiting, the truth is the institution itself hamstrings recruitment for sports. Period. Gailey struck gold with ONE class. One.

Paul has had some great gets, too. JT, Shaq, Days, Butker, to name a few.

Until there are fundamental changes to the way the institution handles admissions, curriculum, etc., this is the way of things.

As to the TO not attracting new fans, I disagree. The offense is fun to watch and gets the attention of the sports media when it’s running well. From a marketing perspective, it’s the perfect offense for a school like Tech - an offense that is the sum of its parts and one that uses a kind of football calculus to overcome a disadvantage.

Personally, I hope the TO is here to stay.

Crowds are not shrinking as drastically as GT crowds are. The fact that the Miami game didn’t even eclipse 50k was very telling. There is 0 excitement around the football program. Talent continues to get worse on both sides of the ball
