Monken is not PJ lite, and the 3O should stay.

Right. Recruiting has not been good. But CPJ fought with MBob for more recruiting staff for years and never got it. It took until TStan before we could hire 4 staffers. Other teams were already in the 10 to 20. That puts us years behind our competitors. So we can say recruiting was bad under Johnson, but it seems pretty silly to blame it all on him when he had a piece of öööö AD unwilling to give us a competitive recruiting staff.
Not that I don’t believe you, but is there concrete proof of this?

were CPJ's recruiting rankings getting better since TS's hire in September, 2016? I honestly don't know and am just asking.

no matter though. hopefully the next guy we get hits the ground running.

Concrete? IDK. But certainly it has been hinted at in the strongest terms by CPJ. And from my own personal interactions with MBob, it seems highly plausible. That dude was never the right fit for a football-first Southern school.

RW92 you need to pipe down. CPJ is a great coach and for 11 years he has brought fun to our program. Curry quit to go to Bama. Ross quit to go pro. OLeary quit to go to ND (almost). CPJ decided to retire. He earned it.
I have cheered a lot teams and coaches on the flats. Outside of having a Shawn Jones on the team to to win a NC, CPJ has done the most for GT. He ranks right after the ones we paint on the fascias of BDS.
How you are so stubbornly blind to this is amazing.

I don’t see why CPJ wouldn’t lie about it in a public interview, but I won’t say it’s impossible. It is true that we only got the staff once TStan joined, and up until that point CPJ was public about wanting more staff.

When I see how many difference makers we have been having as freshman, I would say yes. We also have had more 4 stars in 2017 and 2018 classes than we did in 2015 or 2016.

I won’t say CPJ does not own part of the blame. I just think we would be foolish not to consider our small staff to also have been hurting us. That is why I am glad TStan seems to understand. Hopefully the larger staff CPJ fought for will help our next guy.

I’m not acting like a crybaby because of Monken or else I’m acting like everyone has gone irrational with their opposition to the option. Read your own post again, “I have seen nothing in his history that suggests that he is good for defense and special teams.” That is completely idiotic. Every team he has gone to has improved its defense and special teams. There is nothing in his history to support what you said. It’s like Catholics who leave the Church because they want to be on birth control but blame it on The Catholic position on the Immacate Coneption. Everyone has gone crazy.

I’ve stated that I’m ok with Satterfield and Elliot if he comes as an OC under an experienced HC for a few years. You are the one taking an extreme position.
You can't even quote me correctly. I said "there has been nothing in Monken's history that makes me believe he will improve our defense and special teams." Go back and compare the relative strength of defense and ST Paul Johnson achieved to what Monken achieved. You've got the benefit of them having essentially identical coaching stops. Here's what you'll find: Paul Johnson was more successful. I'm looking for a coach that can improve our program, you're advocating a coach that will be a step back.

We’d probably have some pretty good highs and lows with Monken, similar to PJ, but let’s call it for what it is. Are we in a state where we feel games with Clemson and ugag are 50/50? Would we feel like this would change with Monken? Convince me of that and I’d be more on board.

Fans expecting GT to be 50/50 with cu and uga at the height of their programs (cu ever, uga in nearly 40 years) are delusional. Only the top 5 programs in the country could be 50/50 with those 2.

I don't need to do jack öööö. If I don't want to hear a bunch of women bitchin' in the kitchen, I'm gonna ignore 'em. And in doing so, reeeeeeeallly piss 'em off. Which is bonus.

Rewatched the 2008 Miami game for giggles... surprisingly how many passes were in the game. I was rubbing my eyes. So triple + a good dose of throws can win. But we already knew that.
Quick outs to Demaryius Thomas early in that game to keep Miami from having 8 or 9 in the box. Randy Shannon was completely befuddled.

Didn't he tell you? RW92 has only had one job ever and will work there till the day he dies, because God forbid someone sees another opportunity or desires to work no longer for their current employer.

He's a scheme first, school second kinda guy, and won't even bother to look at metrics that might prove he's wrong. Most likely autistic, as anything that doesn't mesh with his ideas sets him off and he blocks you out of his echo chamber.

Absolutely. There was definitely an upward trend, and I think our next coach will have more talent to work with than any year since 2009.

Isn't it likely that all our present recruiting staff and analysts will be going bye bye?

I have no idea. Monken and Satterfield both have connections to some of our current staff, so I could see them retaining people. I'd hate to lose Andy McCollum.

If Graham stays, the next HC will already have an outstanding dual-threat guy who thrives in the shotgun. Yes, that's a not-subtle hint lol

Agreed. I think Lucas Johnson could work in any system as well. Defensively, guys like Juanyeh Thomas, Tariq Carpenter, Tre Swilling, Justice Dingle, Zamari Walton, Jaylon King, etc. are all good pieces to work with.

I'm not excited about Monken or even continuing the triple option as it is today, but Tech will need to run some type of option oriented offense. If they switch to a pro set type offense we are screwed. Tech does not have the line to block for that type of offense, nor QB to run it. So I think we're either looking at some kind of tweaked up triple option or some kind of spread option. Regardless of the coach that we get he will not be running the exact same offense as Johnson.
