I dont know if it is fair to gripe about the talent disparity w/UGA

Endorsed. And if rejected, keep on applying until the rejections become publicly scandalous if and when the pattern of GT-only rejections becomes undeniable.

It became scandalous the day the regents added 'engineering' as an offering to those less than stellar gaggers.

I am not in favor of adding specific majors for athletes. Mainly because that goes against what I believe collegiate athletics should be about. I am not against adding majors that fit our mission and would be more attractive to athletes.

Bs. Colleges should prepare kids for work after college is over. A lot of our football players go into coaching, training, sales etc in the sports field. It is not ridiculous in the least to offer athletics teaching to athletes.

an issue not enough of you are addressing is that fact that smart is actually a competent coach unlike richt in regards to not squandering his massive talent pool. which in itself is even better under smart than it was with richt. can't do a whole lot with that.
maybe his guys have learned not to get caught doing the same stupid öööö Richt's guys did - or found ways to get away with it.

Yeah, that didn't happen. Glad they lost but they damn sure didn't get bus rolled.

Bama is going to cruise to the title, and pretty sure U[sic]GA would have too if they had managed to win that game.

If you watched the game they should have. Pathetic.
What the hell dream world are you living in?
The dwags had a 14 point lead and Bama didn't tie the game up until about 6 minutes to go in the game and took the lead with just over a minute. Quit making excuses for making a stupid prediction and being wrong. Just own it.

I keep hearing that Bud ain’t tryin, but I don’t see any evidence of it. Although that’s admittedly hard to show.
Isn’t it evidence that you went through the minutes and there were no requests from GT to add more diverse majors?

We don’t even offer normal teaching certificates. Let’s start with allowing GT to educate the next generation of STEM teachers, then worry about athletic specific teaching.

History tells us that everything is cyclical. No one stays on top forever. Compare FSU and Florida now to their former selves in the 90s, USC in the 2000s... Bama wasn't in it's current form until Saban brought them back. ND as good as they're playing had a long dry spell between Holtz and Kelly. The top 8 teams or so... they'll fall eventually. Not all at once of course but they will.

Yes it was startling to see the difference in players between GT and UGA this past weekend. Yes I agree we looked like we didnt belong on the field with them. However, I dont think it is fair to focus upon this aspect because if you swapped Bama with UGA and had the same results, nobody would blink an eye. We would just shrug and say well, what did you expect? News flash, UGA and Bama are just about equal in talent these days. Dont believe me? Watch the SEC CG this saturday.

UF looked like a HS team vs UGA. Kentucky, who is damn good this year, looked bad too. South Carolina didnt look much different than we did vs UGA. Auburn got drilled. So did Vandy. Those teams are loaded with talent (yes even Vandy) and they looked like weaklings vs UGA. I hate to say it but UGA is about to enter an unprecedented era for them and we will be like everyone else, a bug in their windshield.

In the CFP era, certain teams are now distancing themselves from the pack. It's a positive feedback system that is driving even more five/four stars to only a handful of schools. We aren't much different than other schools in the pack and we should judge ourselves vs the pack rather than vs UGA or you will feel very miserable about our team. It's just the way things are in 2018+.

The see-saw of college football is never ending. 10 years ago we were talking about USC and Texas. 10 years before that it was Nebraska and Penn St. In 10 years, I doubt the CFP will be UGA, Bama, Clemson every year.

GT is ranked 51st in the country when it comes to athletic expenditures.

You get what you pay for.

Unfortunately for the nerds at GT, they don’t realize that having a poor football program actually hurts your academic prowess as well.

Out of state applications for the University of GA doubled last year. Just because of football.

Not sure how willing the Institute is on getting to that level but aiming for a Top 25 budget program doesn’t seem too far-fetched. At least Stansbury fully understands this. We finally have an AD who gets it.

We should probably invest all of our money in basketball then. More games, more exposure, easier path to post season. We saw the same bump in applications after we went to the final four, if I recall correctly.

This. Georgia has had to 5-10 recruiting classes since I started paying attention to that stuff in the late 90s. Kirby has done a good job coaching. We will see if he can maintain it.

Alabama is on an unprecedented run of success here. It's the most sustained winning in the modern era, or at least feels like it.

Isn’t it evidence that you went through the minutes and there were no requests from GT to add more diverse majors?
Possibly. There’s not any record of discussion from any school where their request was ultimately denied. Which indicates to me that those discussions, the ones that the BoR isn’t inclined to make, happen off record.
