Whisenhunt and fan interest.

Everyone who is an ardent Whisenhunt supporter has excuses for all of his NFL failures that usually revolve around not having a hall of fame quarterback at his disposal. Look at it this way: Whisenhunt is in his mid-50s. If he's as good as everyone claims, why isn't he the winning head coach somewhere already? Why is he looking to make a step down into college which is a completely different animal than the pros? His trajectory is starting to look a lot like Al Groh's sunset.

I don't think Whiz is a good choice because he has no college experience and no recruiting experience or contacts.

Still, there's people available to hire that can do that for him, so if he's the man, so be it and we'll find out soon enough.

But he will have a hall of fame quarterback at his disposal named JG4-Wentworth.

I would like to know more about why Whisenhunt is a bad hire. Try not to use "Gailey 2.0" and "NFL success doesnt always translate well to college." in your analysis and convince me why Whisenhunt sucks.

He has zero recruiting contacts. I would imagine zero knowledge of the ncaa bylaws. Zero experience working with 18-20 yo kids problems. Zero experience working his training plans into the confines of college practice times.

His nfl play calling is pretty good, but that rarely translates to the college game.

Whiz is a better fit for the Packers than GT.

You can do the same thing with NCAA coaches though. Most fail. How many young OCs that get a HC job succeed? Sure you might get Lincoln Riley, but the list of flameouts is long.

I'm down with whoever we hire and think with the right support structure anyone we hire can be successful. Get onboard you lil bitches.
Yea, that's why I say I'm not excited about the hire, not that I'm 100% opposed to it. I love the idea of a Tech guy coming home and making good. But I'm also in love with the idea of winning the lottery. And I'm not jazzed on the idea of pinning our success on uncertainty.

We don't have a QB right now. We don't have elite receivers. We don't have a recruiting advantage. We don't have anything which would make me think Whisenhunt will have success.

Fired twice, limited exposure to the college game and boring pro rinse and repeat offense

In the interview it must be asked about the most terrifying part of his resume, the 3-20 stint with the nfl titans. In a league where the talent is much more evenly distributed than the college game, it is almost impossible to have a ledger that bad...

And this a fair critique.

I think we can have a recruiting advantage. There are so many talented players in this state that we haven't been able to recruit. It isn't like we are Kansas or something where there are no good players within 500 miles. Maybe we won't get the top 25 players in Georgia, but we certainly need more of the 25-50th ranked players in the state. We do not get any of these players currently. Find a way to get them and we will win. That will be the key for any new coach.

Look at the roster and tell me who on those teams was a star. No one was winning in that situation. Same with the end of his Arizona run. No NFL coach can win when a GM saddles him with Kevin Kolb, Skelton and Charlie Whitehurst at QB.

I think the main issue is that, if he wasn't a Tech alum, we wouldn't even know who he was.

I think that that is probably the biggest indictment of his potential hiring for me. If you remove "former player" from his resume, it really is a meh hire. It feels like there would be other more qualified candidates from the collegiate (or NFL if TStan really wants coaching experience from that league) that are available.

If part of the point of moving from CPJ is to help improve recruiting, I don't see how that is accomplished by someone that has never done that before.

Regardless of whom is hired, let's hope that the school is stepping up with support and resources or I don't think it will be pretty trying to beat opponents running the same style w/lesser athletes.

Well, he'll get to be his own gm... in a game where the talent is less evenly distributed than where he has been -can he recruit a level higher than ccg?

I went from trusting Todd to be very very scared. The past 3-4 days have been ridiculous. Starting with the bombshell that we're all in on Wiz to completely dropping the ball on the bowl game.

Bingo. If KW is the hire, I'll support him and hope and pray that he makes Saban look like Donnan. An Elliott would be risky in terms of questioning he can replicate his recruiting/offensive success here.

A KW hire would be risky in that we have absolutely no idea if he can do anything successfully at the college level, period.

wtf is a TE?
Something that goes uncovered since the 1970's

UVA had a beautiful play to the TE against us they only used once. I would have run it 35 times or at least run it with the game on the line. Bronco is an idiot.

Lol, you're a rollercoaster. But I agree, just get it done if we're doing it.
I am on my stomach, prone, tied up, helpless. Just get it over with and stop telling me how much it is going to humiliate me.

Sorry, best analogy I can come up with during these hard times

Can we afford KW? He currently makes 5.7 m a year... im not sure Ken would take a pay hit just to coach at his Alma mater..Thoughts?
