Nailed it. And I'm not some KW fanboy here - but the posters on here pretending that Collins and Elliot are stone cold locks to be great HC's are just a bit optimistic in their handicapping. Why don't we let our team do their interviews, complete their due diligence, and rely upon their years of full-time experience in collegiate athletics to make the right decision, versus a bunch of alums behind their keyboards.
Nobody is a lock to be a successful coach. It is a crapshoot every time.

Can't help but post this for you clowns to chew on. Anyone, and I mean anyone who is pissed off about potentially having Ken Whisenhunt as the next GT head coach over Satterfield, Tony Elliot, any other 3O coach not named Johnson, or even Geoff Collins is a ööööing dumbass. Like next level stupid.

Whisenhunt isn't Gailey. Go listen to the guy sometime. He clearly has a charisma about him that is needed as a Head Coach and potential recruiter. He learned under Bill Cowher!!! who is arguably one of the top 5 coaches in the last 25 years in professional football! He helped develop Ben Rothlisberger AND Phillip Rivers. In fact Rivers under Whisenhunt is having one of his better career years. This is not like Chan Gailey. NFL QB's couldn't stand Gailey most notably Troy Aikman who ultimately got Gailey fired from Dallas. We should be lucky as hell we could get the Whiz!

You guys want to öööö on a GT connected coach at the highest level for a head coach at an FCS school, a young OC at Clemson who hasn't done öööö, and a recent head coach at a mid major? If Collins turns out to be our coach I will not be disappointed, but all of you poo pooing Ken Whisenhunt are öööö tards of the highest level. This is in a nut shell why I stopped posting over here because the IQ of the average fan on Stingtalk is level pathetic. You guys are still funny, and I enjoy reading on occasion but anyone up in arms against the Whiz is next level stupid.
Jesus the bag men at GT really are this dumb and disconnected to college ball. Well, fine. Get your buddy a job. He worked under Cowher after all. Who ALSO no longer has any relevance to high school athletes. I feel like someone who is so charismatic wouldn’t be so unsuccessful at two different locations but maybe that’s just me. As others have mentioned if Wiz weren’t a GT alum you would be pissed. That’s a fact.

What other colleges are trying to get him to coach? Why is his agent so eager to make sure Al Michaels is mentioning it on NBC? It’s because there are no other suitors. There are no HC jobs in the NFL that want him either. There’s just rumors trying to make us pull the trigger.

Once a coaching decision is made, we will be stuck for 4-5 years, because we can't afford to pay another coach to leave. The best way to reduce that risk is to pick a coach that has demonstrated specific talents that would apply to the challenges to the program. For example, CPJ had success at Navy where the recruiting problems were similar, and he did that by running an offense that made better use of the athletes he could recruit. It doesn't matter how charismatic or smart a coach is. If he doesn't have a definite strategy to overcome the recruiting issues at Tech, we will end up in the bottom half of the ACC. What specific talent or strategy does Whisenhunt have to overcome the handicap of coaching at Tech? I don't see a single thing to impress me in that respect.
Problem is, nobody's resume really fits this description.

Saban hated the NFL since the players, fans and administration wouldn't worship the ground he walked on. NFL was a bad experience for him.
He simply picked the wrong qb. He went with a Dante Culpepper instead of Drew Brees. The dolphins sign Brees
Saban never leaves.

This. He’s a great guy and I love him, but I dunno on the winning games aspect of the job. That’s the tl;dr of the article.
Essentially, Casey (USC OL) clearly wasn't a fan. Everyone else was deferential, and our alum Derrick Morgan gave him a pretty clear endorsement.
