Because I hate grown men who act like they're teenagers. I know that's supposedly what it takes to be a good coach these days, but I'll be honest, I don't like the whole youth pastor vibe I get from the guy.

I hope he wins and won't öööö talk him until he does something egregiously bad. But I ain't going to be his cheerleader.
You hate the youth pastor vibe – but it's the youth he's pastoring to. Seems like a good thing to me.

Malzahn coming to GT is a step down and a much harder row than where he is now. I think he wants out at Auburn, but if he’s looking to go somewhere easier GT ain’t it.

I was a Tech fan before PJ got to The Flats.
I was a PJ fan before he got the Tech job.
I will be there in the stands when I can to cheer and support Tech, whoever the coach is and now that it's Collins, that won't change.
But honestly, I don't see this lasting longer than three years. One way or the other.
Besides, if the triple was so boring, why were we among the leaders year in and year out with plays of more than 20 yards?

Based on the press conference, I'd say it sounded like he was delicately trying avoid saying he was a UGA fan growing up. He would've been 9-12 years old during the Herschel years. Those were the years UGA went to the Sugar Bowl and Tech went to the Toilet Bowl. I musta heard that a million times when I was a kid. The hate was planted at an early age.

Anyhow, it's all good, he got me with the 'no more red pens in the AA' line.
I noticed that too. I figured he wasnt going to lie and say no i was a Tech fan and then somehow a photo of him as a 9 year old wearing uga öööö shows up. I believe he really wants to do well here, and i believe this is a dream job for him. He will learn to hate uga very quickly. We'll give him some time.

It seems a bit of talking out of the both sides of his mouth IMO. I don’t honestly believe this is CGC’s dream job. I think he would leave for an SEC job. But that happening means he had a great deal of success here which I would appreciate and I would think sets us up for the future.

If there's anything this guy is, it's "in touch". He's gonna be spouting all kinds of anti-UGA stuff all day long. No way he soft-pedals it like CPJ.

He did specifically say during his intro two years ago that Temple was his "dream job." But the Atlanta connection is real. And if he gets us competitive, he'll have a much easier path to the NC through the Coastal than back at UF or wherever. (One of my reasons I don't think Dabo goes to Bama when Saban leaves.)

I think him and his wife really wanna live in Atlanta and this is the best college football job you can get in Atlanta. I believe him because he didnt say this is his dream job because of Tech, but because of Atlanta.

Like the hire, we weren’t getting a Nick Saban, but we got a high energy guy. It really didn’t matter who we hired, they gonna have to re build the offense, it will take a few years. He seems like he wants to go through that process so we will see

So Collins talked about getting the elite of the elite and talked about Tech's academic advantages. It makes for a good sound bite but I am specious about the reality of it.
That got me thinking - if academics mean so much to 5 stars, why doesn't a place like Stanford or Northwestern or Duke get more?
I looked up the Stanford stuff a while ago. I have it in the truck, for some reason. And I don't feel like going outside right now.
I just looked up Northwestern recruiting from 2009-18.
10 4 stars total.
0 5 stars.

The Ad and Collins seem like they want to change the previous recruiting concept, we will see

Because they don't have the right salesman for the job?

I think this really comes down to Harbaugh > Fitzgerald. Stanford under Harbaugh created a culture that bred success and snowballed little wins into bigger wins. They went from bottom dweller to perennial contender in that way. Fitzgerald is more of the occasional blip. He’s done a lot of good for Northwestern, but if they want to compete they need to take coaching to the next level.

Thats because TStan's playing 4D chess. He leaked Whisenhunt's name, even leaked that he was offeeing him a job, waited for the fans to go through 4 of the 5 stages of grief, then he said dont believe what you believe in the media, calling them fake news, and leaked his real choice, getting most of the fanbase support and looking like a hero.
Sounds like Trump and Russia analogy. Lol
