Will Grier skipping bowl game

LOL, it's a Stingtalk argument, a significant amount of posters here have never played a team sport. He is a QB, that is even more different.

Yes, bitching out makes you a bitch.

He did also end up retiring relatively early in his career due to being plagued by injury, so maybe there's a point.

What did that have to do with Tech? I would talk to the Lion's coordinators if I were you.

Plus, he did make the right decision. The Lions will never win öööö.

I don't think he works there anymore.
Yeah. He resigned. Just like Will Grier basically did.

The difference is CGC actually gets paid for the job he resigned from whereas Will Grier doesn’t. And CGC was unlikely to get injured on the sidelines, whereas Grier might and lose out on his next paid opportunity for an unpaid gig.

I wonder how many NFL talent coordinators just wrote "lacks toughness" down next to Grier's name on their draft board?

How much of Clemson's DL is going pro after the bowl game will be the most important question for us. We really have to beat Clemson to sniff the ACCC next season. UNC is the only other coastal team they face. Hopefully Miami loses to FSU and we separate ourselves from Dook, UVA and VT. Ours to take

Probably not as many as those who wrote "played against suspect defenses"

The more important question is how many nfl ready DL are underclassmen ready to start next year.

Sorry, but this is a pretty big bitch move if you are a QB.

CJ didn't skip our game with them and he was as good as gone. Of course, CJ wasn't a ööööing pussy, either.
Puts over-signing in a different light, doesn't it? Grier has played the system TWICE. Got a free ride at both Florida and West Virginia, benefited from coaching, conditioning, national media exposure, Heisman publicity, etc. Then deserts the team for personal gain.

And WV sold tix and merchandise

College football is a business. Players sitting out is an inevitable outcome of the current business model. This latest adaptation by the players will lead to further adaptation by the NCAA.

I believe within a decade the playoff system will expand for two major reasons: 1) the money and interest for playoff games has dwarfed the bowl system. Think about that- a system that has been in place for a century has been relegated in about a 5 year period. 2) as players (and I believe schools will soon) pass on playing in meaningless bowl games the gap between “real” games and “exhibitions” will lead to the bowl system collapsing (it’s already collapsing with the only thing keeping it afloat being TV money and with the financial issues of ESPN and the cable/satellite bundling and cord cutting the money will slow soon).

ESPN is in financial trouble. I believe TV will dictate a bigger playoff system and the NCAA will gladly do it. Then we’ll see if a prospect on a 16 seed plays or not. It may take a decade or more or it could happen much quicker depending on Disney.

How much does it hurt future recruiting if WV gets smoked in the bowl game?

I don't have a big issue with him bailing, but if star athletes can exercise that "right" then I have no problem with coaches bailing on marginal SAs to free up schollies.
I do think that scholarships could be re-evaluated at the end of each season, just like academic ones are. If your GPA drops, you lose your scholarship and have to decide whether or not you want to bail or pay your own way. I don't think football has to be any different.

But the grayshirt/blueshirt thing is absolute bullshit. By accepting the commitment you are asking the kid not to pursue other offers, so it is majorly ööööed up when you turn around and yank their offer after they've missed opportunities to find a backup plan. I would not respect a GT coach if he started doing this, just like I don't respect Nick Saban, Butch Jones, Kitby Smart, etc. as someone I would send my son to play for.

All 4 starters will be gone, at least 3 first rounders. Problem is the two 5* freshmen may be better. Playing Clemson first next year will be really interesting since they'll be breaking in a pretty new defense and they'll have very little useful film to work with.

remember when the wv fan took a dump in the stands?

Maybe he has had enough of wv
