7 year deal?

Whiskey
Tango
Foxtrot
It’s about money and buyout. 7 year over 5 year isn’t necessarily bad just because of 2 more years.

Which would you prefer?

5 year $15M
7 year $18M

With that extra average per year “savings” going elsewhere (coaches or admin staff).

It's funny you should say this. I was in deep thought while on the bowl this morning reading about CGC and this dude reminds me a lot of Butch Jones.
Actually Butch Jones would probably be a great hire.

For Temple.

GT hired Coach Collins pretty cheaply:cheers: When he starts winning GT will have to give him a raise or risk him being tempted by other teams who would pay him more:inout:

Butch Jones is a candidate and he wants the Temple head coaching job badly along with Greg Schiano who wants the Temple head coach job also.

Best post I have ever seen from you. Well done.
23,307 posts about banging moms and turkish customs, and then that one. Maybe there is hope for GT as well. A new wind is blowing.

7 years is insane for a proven coach much less an unproven one. Maybe next time we can add an automatic rollover. What can go wrong?

Just to öööö with Clemson, we should line up in wishbone and run the triple option for the first play of the game. Then we can go back to our new offense.
Hell, I was thinking the same thing only do the "draw them offsides" play

The 7 year contract is probably appropriate. A normal contract would be up to 6 years. However, any non option coach coming in would certainly demand at least 1 additional year because they are changing the offensive system. That’s why CGC is getting 7 years.

Normally, you’d be able to make a decision about the coach by the end of year 3. In a 6 year contract that means you’re paying 3 years of salary if you’re letting go. What this means for us is that we need to make a decision by the end of year 4, which considering the change in offensive systems is probably the best we could do. That means Tech will also be looking at a 3 year buyout, amounting to the same approx. $9mm.

The other factor is that a 7 year contract has benefits as well, because if CGC does work out, we will need to renegotiate the contract after year 4, and not year 3, which means we pay him his current salary an additional year, instead of the newer higher salary we would have to pay with the new contract.

Honestly, if we get an innovative OC, there is no reason we can't implement a Tobias short yardage / goaline package with the SO
