CPJ doesn't seem thrilled...

Johnson has nothing to be ashamed of. If he wants to make a petty remark so be it. Yea we’re fuxkinf excited for a total change in attitude. So be it. He was almost there and the transition is looking good. If Collins and Johnson don’t get along I don’t ööööing care. I still like the guy. Better than that Gailey clown.
öööö off asshole and get that tranny off the board.

Yeah you can tell that CPJ is not oblivious to the fact that people have been insinuating that the new guy can recruit and he couldn't, but he seems like normal CPJ though...the IIWII attitude we all loved.

Regardless, I do feel like CFB has changed over the past 11 years, and I am very happy about the direction the program seems to be moving, because I think CGC's method is more effective in 2018 to attract talent than CPJ's method.

As others have mentioned, CPJ choosing to retire made this entire situation so much better. He gets to go out with fanfare, and we get to move on to someone who is excited to be coaching. After all the good times we had with CPJ I really did not want him to be fired, but I was definitely ready for a change. Now all we can do is hope that the correct decision was made for the new staff.

I haven't watched the tape yet. I will go back and look at the tape and see. It is never as good or as bad as it seems, it just is what it is.

I'll defend to my death the notion that the offense was not holding us back. CPJ scored more than Hugh Heffner and won an Orange Bowl with half a hundred points. But he never was able to put a solid defense and special teams on the field in the same year, except maybe 2009 and 2014.

I applaud CGC using the NFL angle to attract talent right away, and in no way do I interpret that as a dig on CPJ. CPJ was an offensive genius. CGC is a recruiting genius. Both of them seem to have a lot thicker skin than most board lurkers.

All I'll add is that the two coaches who've won titles recently, Saban and Dabo, are both awful coaches that would get shredded by CPJ with even talent on the field. Dabo was not a superb WR coach and Saban got his ass kicked in the NFL where the talent gap is razor thin. They both hire good coordinators to handle Xs and Os, and they are both really, really good at talking to 17-year-old recruits.

Have you ever seen the media give CPJ or the option a fair shake. How many uga fans have told you to get rid of that high school offense. How many times have you read that recruiting sucks because of the option. What other offense has a new coach come in and trash and offense (GSU...by saying there is no option on all school buses) that has won championships. I know of no other offense that achieves more with less and yet is trashed in the media and by fans.

CPJ knows that hype will only go so far... as GT is what it is and has a history to back it up. We all know some on his staff were not good recruiters and not everyone wants to play in the option... thank you media for an undeserved black eye. CPJ is smirking as he knows the average will be the average recruiting for GT. CPJ had highs and lows in results with steady recruiting. The next guy may have highs and lows with recruiting... let’s see how the wins average out and peak and valley... even with more support from the AD.

You are about to see the true effect of a 12 year old APR change that effects GT more than any school and that CPJ absorbed.

The next 4 years GT loses to uga... ask yourself if it had anything at all to do with the offense GT runs. I’ll make sure to ask why GT did not win... we changed the O and everything. I am sure I’ll get banned at some point...

CPJ did not waste his years at GT, but there is no doubt he would have achieved more at a school without GTs limitations.

I’ll give the man his smirk and let the future history speak for itself.

CGC... what is the data that says he is a recruiting genius? Good maybe, but genius?

No matter how much a genius wants a kid and makes the kid want to come to GT...or even finds bag men to make the commit happen...the kid has to pass the classes towards getting a degree.

This is a solid melt

Gosh this is no big deal. He cracked a joke and kinda made his point that he gets beat up for his recruiting. Which is just avg at best. Paul needs to realize he can not be good at things too. No one is always the best at everything.

With that said he isnt butthurt and it was no biggy. Goeff has to close a class with signing day around the corner and worry about moving. I wouldn’t expect him to be there immediately after he was hired. Heck even with paul was hired it took him over a week to get to tech and its not like he was an active bowl practice goer.

So eh. Not much to see here
All of this.

I think I’ve spotted a founding member of the Folks Against Geoff.

That's a totally unfair take, IMHO. I've long felt that CPJ's prickliness was one of his greatest enemies – but it's not on display in this video. He makes a good-humored joke about the perception that he didn't recruit well, and his comment about CGC is value-neutral. He does *not* take a negative suggestion and run with it, or defend it angrily, or anything like that. He's just playing with the reporter pool like he always does.

I was at a party tonight that combined the annual Christmas party with a sort of send off for CPJ from various boosters. (Were any of you there?) CPJ and several players (including TQM) were there, and TStan gave him another hurrah and read off his accomplishments and so forth. Some of the donors in the room were feeling like this board seems to feel – it's been a great run but if he's losing passion, then it's a good time for a change.

Anyhow, there was a thing for everyone to sign to thank CPJ for his work here... I tipped my hat to ST by signing "IIWII".
@gtphd this is how you subtle brag not so subtly. No one cares about your watches, are you a top booster?

Look, I respect and have enjoyed CPJ on campus. His offense is legitimately the best and most efficient I’ve ever seen. But he did not recruit like he should have.

The guy who oversaw all of Tech’s athletic facilities, directly reported DRad, Bobinski, and TStan, was in my wedding and vice versa. We spoke weekly on the state GT athletics and the biggest problem we had in football was recruiting. Compared to the factories, CPJ and his staff had a laissez faire attitude toward recruiting. The fact that other schools used the TO against us should have been more motivation for us to recruit harder and smarter. But I guarantee you we did not. Staff that came from other schools were shocked at how we handled recruiting. That’s why we had real issues on special teams and defense. His offense could overcome talent deficiencies, sometimes, but it was a real weaknesses for the other 2/3 of the game.

If we had recruiters on our staff from day one like CGC we might be looking at a National Championship under CPJ.

I’m throwing my full support to CGC, because I hope he can convince the school President, the recruits, and our national perception that we’re the best damn school in the country for academics AND athletics. Every month there’s a small amount that gets automatically withdrawn from my checking account to the GTAA. I hope the rest of us find a way to do that, too, so we can start acting like we really care about athletics.

I see a drunk poster thought better of himself the next morning and went on a deleting frenzy.

I don't love a lot of the insinuations about him by TStan and CGC or the media, either, but he quit, he didn't get fired. He needs to stfu and get out with integrity intact.

Fwiw, I didn't listen to the what he said.

I'm with architorture. TStan and Geoff are trying to build a new image for the program. öööö may not be a big deal to us because we're used to Paul's snarky comments but when we're days away from trying to sign a better class and have players to fit the new system, every comment and every word matters.

This is also why having two coaches is a not a good idea. I like Paul but I would have told him thank you and changed the locks after he announced his decision to quit.
