To be fair

It was all about Andrew Luck for Stanford. They have been quite pedestrian since he got drafted.

Not quite

Even with the "down yrs" Stanford has avgd. about 10 wins per yr. in the 11 yrs that CPJ has been at GT, despite Harbaugh taking over a 1 win Team

Wanna know how good their recruiting has been over that 11 yrs., during the 11 yrs. that CPJ was at GT, Stanford had the Heisman runner-up 5 times, not to mention many players named to a major AA-teams, and players winning position awards, and multiple All-Pac12 players

I hope Coach G can put us on a Stanford-type 11 yr run

I'd rather copy Stanford than copy a Service Academy or Ga Southern

Again, I only sounds harsh compared to the hype. Nothing I said was anti or critical of CGC action at GT. I did not say we made the wrong hire. I did not say we should fire CGC before he even started. I think GT got the best GT could get and a lot of the people here are ready for the promise land.

I choose the reality of the situation over blind and foolish emotions that have no basis in reality (positive or negative). You want to be optimistic, go ahead. I made a prediction as people where calling for CPJs head... and we are on a direct course. You say give CGC a chance... I hope he goes 12 and 0 his first season and gets a top 25 class in 2020. Hope... I think there is a poem about that somewhere.

Shoot, I am the only one that I have seen to not spew rainbows and sprinkles over GT's future under the new coach.

That last statement is not true, longest. There are a lot of us with cautious (but let's see what happens) concern about our future. Here are 2 things I am confident about (still just an opinion, but based on many years of experience):

We are not going to be able to put 2 top 20 recruiting classes together at GT, under the current environment and limitations. Shoot, if we had one, that would go beyond what I believe is possible.

AND, if the talent disparity between us and the best teams on our schedule is greater than about 20%, which it will be when considering depth and talent, the offense we run will need to be very, very unpredictable and/or unique, or it will not be successful against the best defenses. (heck, it might not be anyway, depending on how large the talent gap is and if that talent is coached well)

Thank you to those who contributed and read a thread your said you did not want posted... stop reading, are you not entertained?

We shall see what the future holds. The bed is made and now you shall sleep in it... good, bad, or ugly.

I worry about implementation dip with a new regime, but certainly want to see success

Why did QT keep casting himself in his movies? He’s the worst part of all of them.
Totally agree. When you see a non-actor working with professional actors, they stand out. He takes me out of that scene.

Unlike the poor guy in the backseat, CPJ will be missed by many.

I am not anti CGC.

I only sound harsh if you compared my statements about Collins to the hype. It is roses and tulips versus corn comparisons.

I stated facts that he is 15 in 10 after the last coach left that was 20 and 5. The recruiting did not improve and if anything it was less than average for Temple. He did have a good defense at Temple and UF, but the offense was lesss than good. He may be really good and do what CPJ could not... I think this unlikely that he will break 30 years of evidence at GT in recruiting and be better than the top 4 or 5 coaches at GT... but you never know until you try. Remember, CPJ came to us after winning several championships and elevating a service academy to highs not seen. But somehow along the way he forgot how to coach and recruit ... and GT school issues and funding had no impact... and you expect me to drink the koolaid that GT is now better positioned?

But, let CGC prove me wrong and recruit as well as or better than uga... afterall, he has a new AD to back him up. If you are new here, you will not understand my loathing for the negative drum beaters here that came out after every loss to gloat and spew thier unhappiness. I made a promise I intend to keep....
Dumbest post ever

You’re obviously feee to feel how you wish but there are a number of inaccurate statements in your post as well as some nuances you choose to ignore. But have fun not being excited

Recruiting isn’t everything bub

Don't become like those you dislike. It won't change them and you won't be happy with yourself. I like CPJ and was sad to see him go because with a little help in the right areas I think he could continue to deliver the success we've seen from him before. That said, I hope to see CGC take GT to the next level. CPJ did great things and his successor going beyond that won't invalidate what he did. I agree with many of the points you've made, but I hope to see CGC live up to the hype because that will mean good things for GT and we can all enjoy that.
