It will be a miracle if CGC averages better than 35, but for me that would be the goal. I won't even dare to dream about top 25, except for a rare class, balanced out by some classes in the 40's.

That’s new data for me. I did not see 2019 ranking for Temple and 59th is not bad... but the data above does not show a recruiting genius. Breaking into the 40s or 30s would have been amazing recruiting. I am not saying he is a bad recruiter and I think he may improve recruiting a little. Matching uga or even consistent top 25 is one hell of a tall order and outside many years of history at GT. I think the whole reason we went to the option was to give GT an edge given recruiting difficulty.... I know, so many 4 and 5 star players wanted to come to GT so bad, but the option turned them off.

There's one non-P5 school in the top 50 of Rivals, and that's South Florida, which is in a slightly more advantageous geographical position than Temple. There are two non-P5 schools in the top 60--one is in the heart of SEC country (Memphis) and one is in the heart of Big East basketball country (Temple). Barring a move to a P5 league, Temple isn't going to recruit any better than they have been.

The last time Collins was here, we signed eight 4-star recruits. That's as many as we've signed in 2015-2019 combined.

My hope, as the mutt stated, is we get 4 to 5 4 stars or more per class. We should get get a couple just buy leaving the option. Then if we see results on the field add a few per class. Success breeds success and kids these days are all in contact via social media. My hope for Collins is he can get the high school players excited to want to come to GT and over the course of the next 4 years we become a viable alternative for Georgia players rather than watching them leave the state to schools that haven’t done anything in 50 years (looking at Miss St., Ole Miss, South Carolina, UNC, NC State, etc). With FSU and Auburn trending down this could be our chance to turn the perception. UGA and Bama can’t take them all.

Lost in all the nonsense infighting that has plagued this forum for the past however long is that there are Georgia Tech fans that supported Paul Johnson, and are excited about the Collins hire. I don't understand either the desire to trash the outgoing regime, nor the desire to trash the incoming regime because they might be different. It doesn't make any damn sense at all.

Meh. There's so much variation in a single year that it's fair to say there's very little difference between 31 and 46. UVA is "first" in the Coastal but only has three 4* players committed. We got at least that many each of the last two years. I think the bigger issue is evaluating players well, landing more true playmakers than we did during the CPJ regime, and avoiding years like 2013 where we ranked 84th.

"they all come highly recommended", having to deal with that stench the 1st Wed in Feb for straight 11 yrs has done tremendous damage to GT's FB program

I am not anti CGC.

I only sound harsh if you compared my statements about Collins to the hype. It is roses and tulips versus corn comparisons.

I stated facts that he is 15 in 10 after the last coach left that was 20 and 5. The recruiting did not improve and if anything it was less than average for Temple. He did have a good defense at Temple and UF, but the offense was lesss than good. He may be really good and do what CPJ could not... I think this unlikely that he will break 30 years of evidence at GT in recruiting and be better than the top 4 or 5 coaches at GT... but you never know until you try. Remember, CPJ came to us after winning several championships and elevating a service academy to highs not seen. But somehow along the way he forgot how to coach and recruit ... and GT school issues and funding had no impact... and you expect me to drink the koolaid that GT is now better positioned?

But, let CGC prove me wrong and recruit as well as or better than uga... afterall, he has a new AD to back him up. If you are new here, you will not understand my loathing for the negative drum beaters here that came out after every loss to gloat and spew thier unhappiness. I made a promise I intend to keep....

Then if he can go 15 - 10 the next 2 years at GT, that would be better than 12 - 11 like the last 2 years here.

But that is asking a lot because, as we all know, we could never find anyone better than CCG that would take the GT job.
