1st TE in 11 years

All the 2* stuff and recruiting aside, I just watched the kids tape. Definitely a developmental prospect.

He's got tremendous size and what seems like reliable hands which will be great for the short yardage situations. Needs to work on breaking tackles, though... he always seems to go down on the first hit. Blocking could use some serious work, specifically needing to keep them engaged. When going against NJ high school players he can use his size to dominate when defenders break away. Don't think that will translate well against D1 players, though.

I sure hope the guy plays great, but I have to say this reminds me of Francis Kallon. I don't think he ever quite reached the upside we all hoped for him.

Maybe coaching had, or will have, an influence on this?

Given the situation, this is a really good get. The kid definitely has upside, and it could end up being a good get for any situation. I'm cautiously optimistic, but that seems to be the norm for me.

"Cautiously optimistic" appears to be the norm around here these days.

Which is nice, since "cautiously pessimistic" was the norm in recent months.

Lol maybe in basketball

I was joking.

I had a friend in high school that went to UGA to play basketball. He moved up there in July to do summer workouts before Freshman year, and i went to visit him in late August. The strength and conditioning staff had already shaved like 3% of his body fat and his was totally ripped. Obviously in good shape as a high school athlete, but it was like a transformation in 6 weeks. Those guys are good.
