It is time to give UCF the respect

Nope, who you're thinking of is their center Jordan Johnson. Had a problem with GTPD in COFH 2015.
Gracias.
I think we did recruit Hill. But were grades an issue?

If give UCF their QB, then give LSU all the guys back they didn't have. The result probably ain't different, just how you get there and how much the final spread is.

Ucf sucks. What a joke of a thread. But they’d hang with notre dame who also sucks

I still believe they deserved to be in the playoffs. We would have had four unbeaten teams in. They would have had their shot against Bama, in all likelihood gotten beat like a drum or like Oklahoma. They are a good football team on a 27-1 run. The eye test crap to try and justify two SEC teams in the playoffs every year is just that. UCF beat an Auburn team that beat UGA and Bama last year and played LSU better than UGA did this year.

UCF clearly earned respect today. If they had their starting QB, no question they would have won the game.

If he played against this LSU defense with a WR playing corner, probably so. If LSU had it's 8 starters and 5 backups it was missing on defense, no chance.

Well, after the Gaggers choked, we really don’t know how good Bama or Clemson are.
They may get owned by Bama, but what if they beat them like they beat ND?

We know Bama and Clemson are both really good teams, and we know ucf would not be undefeated if they had the schedule of an ACC, Big 10, Big 12 or SEC team.

Hard to really use that game to judge that UCF team. Their backup QB yesterday just couldn't throw. Had their starter not had his knee ripped to pieces, I think they exploit that depleted secondary and hang a number on LSU. Could they hang with Clemson or Bama? Not a chance. But I think with Milton at QB, they could've played and beat anyone else.

That the same “eye test” that determines quality losses and preseason national championships.

Maybe we should determine champions by placing figuring skating judges along the sideline. After every play they can hold up a sign with 1 to 10 on it and we’ll take the season average.

I agree wholeheartedly with the general sentiment of your comment. That’s why I believe the “championship committee” should be given the representatives from each of the power 5 conferences and they should seed 4 of them and pick which one should be left out. At least, that’s what I believe we should do if we are going to stay with the committee and the same basic conference alignment as it stands today.

The flip side of your argument would support GT dropping out of the ACC, scheduling podunk schools and then playing for the championship. After all, who can properly judge that Gardner Webb and Jax State aren’t the same quality as Clemson and Miami?

That's not a bad idea, but at that point we're officially declaring that the G5 won't be in the playoffs. And you have to deal with independents.

There are different ways to avoid that. For example:
  • Force the P5 into a P4 with 16 teams in each conference. Everyone left out drops to FCS.
  • Separate G5 and P5 into separate divisions with their own champions.
  • Create an extra hurdle for G5 teams. For example, move American to a power conference. The P6 champions are all in the playoff. Then the remaining G4 conferences would play two play-in games to develop the 2 teams that join the P6 champions in an 8-team playoff.
I'm not advocating for one of the above, my point is that if you start with a requirement that any team can win the championship on the field any season, you can develop a solution.

they deserve. They’re killing LSU early. 25 game wining streak, and they’ve beaten some good teams along the way.
Yeah. Good team. What are they, 1-1 against year end top 25 the past two years? Respectable team? Of course. Playoff worthy? Hell no.

So you don’t think UCF would’ve finished undefeated with Clemson’s schedule? And what about UGA’s schedule? With Milton playing, this LSU game would’ve been different. Not saying UCF would absolutely win, but it would’ve been better.

No. They absolutely would not. It’s laughable to think they would.

I think the whole thing is based on money and greed, and I’d love to make a way where players are either paid in the light or not paid at all, where championships are decided on the field, etc. But, so long as we are selecting 4 teams, there’s no way a team like ucf should be allowed in.

I’m fine with busting up conferences and making any type of playoff scenario. I just see the NCAA doing everything in their power to maintain the status quo and present flow of money.

Name one team from Clemson’s schedule that would’ve definitely beat UCF with Milton as the QB. I see two toss-ups: Texas A&M and Syracuse.

I’m not gonna argue about this. I’m not changing your mind and you aren’t changing mine.
