I have some more coaching news

So we have CGC, Patenaude, Thacker, Choice, Dixon, Burton, and Popovich. That leaves 4 spots for "hands-on" position coaches, right? Or does Caralla (S&C) count towards that number also?

still waiting on coaches for OL, TE, DE, and OLB, or some combination thereof.

Larry Knight Jr, who coached OLBs at temple and is an Augusta native, was highly suspected but has not been announced so that's a bit strange, maybe. or maybe not strange. who knows?

2 DB coaches and CGC has said in interviews that he is going to be the secondary coach.

I think he is dribbling them out 1 and 2 at a time, so that they can get a moment in the sun.

That, or they have different timetables in giving their answers.

A lot of jobs open now, pro and "amateur." Bunch of assistants spots avaialable. Might slow it down a bit. When is The Dead Period over?

Larry Knight was also the recruiting coordinator as well as OLB coach at Temple. Maybe he'll fill both spots here as well.

Iirc, Geoff had 1 recruiting coordinator for offense and one for defense.

We'll see how that works out here.

I appreciate this post. How many of these guys from Temple?

I remember coach Curry coming to my school telling one of my players that GT wanted him “if” player x did not sign with Tech. He wanted him not to commit to anyone else and wait and see. Well that player signed with another program and Tech wound up signing another kid instead. My kid wound up scrambling at the last min because he had told everyone he was committed to Tech. It’s a business plain and simple.

Ok here's the summary so far, so we can make our best educated guesses at the vacancies (and for @BuzzLaw I'll post last 3 stops of each):

OC/QB - Dave Patenaude (Georgetown, Coastal Carolina, Temple)
DC/LB - Andrew Thacker (UCF, Kennesaw St., Temple)
RB - Tashard Choice (Indianapolis Colts [player], Dallas Cowboys [intern], North Texas)
WR - Kerry Dixon (FIU, Florida, Toledo)
S/co-DC - Nathan Burton (West Alabama, NC State, Temple)
CB/D-ST - Jeff Popovich (FIU, UTSA, Boise St.)

3 for offense and 3 defense, that leaves 4 openings. Most likely the following:

OL
DL
TE
LB

One of these will also likely hold offensive special teams responsibilities and one will also be the recruiting coordinator.
My guess is this:

OL - Brent Key (with co-OC/assistant HC title) - I imagine Key would be recruiting coordinator also.

DL - Jim Panagos (Temple DL coach - his name has been removed from Temple staff page) (also rumors of Lance Thompson from USCe filling this position)

TE - Chris Wiesehan maybe? (Temple OL coach, name also removed from Temple staff page) could help Key with the OL coaching and focus on TE's.

LB - Larry Knight (Temple OLB coach, name also removed from Temple staff page) Augusta native.

Any better guesses?

Whoa. Really!? Key, Thompson, and Collins on the same staff!? Good Lord!!! Let this be true and happen.

USCe people seem to think he's coming here. :dunno:

Only problem I see is he's already assistant head coach at USCe. Some sites say "assistant head coach of defense" though, so I don't know. I hope we don't get a staff that's in a constant pissing match with each other if we start throwing too many titles out.

not sure Thompson is still on the table. not that great a DL coach (SC is unhappy with him) but he has killed it recruiting at factorie$.

Don't know what it means, but Chris Wiesehan retweeted GTFootball's tweet yesterday about the hiring of Burton and Popovich. That's the only thing he's RT'd about GT, nothing about any of his other Temple colleagues' hirings, etc.
