Tony Elliott: Tech Never Called

If you went through what he did as a kid, you might have a 'weird personality'. That said, very happy with the CGC hire.

Not gonna sift for repost info, but early in the coaching search TStan said publically that they were only considering candidates with head coaching experience.

So perhaps he only looked at Wisenhunt and Collins, but this revelation doesn't prove that.

And ... now y'all know why some of us are pissed with how this went down. The fix was in from about October. It was always going to be Collins. There was no job search. The Whisenhunt trial balloon was just to get everybody worked up over an obviously bad hire, so that when they announced it was Collins it would be seen as a "good" choice rather than the hire of a retread NFL coach.
If TStan really pulled this off, I am thoroughly impressed.

Actually, everything that has been said by CGC and Todd seems to confirm this.

Have had no complaints with Collins yet. We don’t know if he is the right guy but if by chance he is then I don’t care how it went down. I would have felt the same if it were Elliot.

Actually this was the plan since September 2016. Todd gets hired as AD, 3 months later Collins gets his first HC job after Temple AD Patrick Kraft receives a sizeable donation to his savings account by an anonymous donor. Then Collins gets his "head coach experience" at Temple, while a sinister Todd pays Taquon Marshall to throw every big game and go hug uga players after losing to them, causing unrest amongst the fanbase even amongst the biggest CPJ fans. Then after Todd successfully destroys all of CPJ'S credit, CPJ's worn down, unable to sleep at night, and decides to retire without taking a single dollar from GTAA. Then Todd goes into hiding with Collins for two weeks, tells a few breaking news "journalists" he's about to sign Whisenhunt, knowing the fanbase will be livid. Then after he lets us stew for a couple weeks he resurfaces with Collins as the new hire, and we're all grateful Whisenhunt wasnt hired and excited about this Collins guy.

It's ööööing genius.
Yes...and Bill Lewis and Chan Gailey were in on it too!

Of course the fix was in. TStan interviewed who? His buddy The Wiz and Collins? He already knew who he was bringing in before CPJ retired, that's why he did nothing to stop CPJ. This was his first FB coach hire as AD. You'd think he would have kicked the tires and left no stone overturned. Hopefully Collins works out well and we hail TStan as a genius.

TStan's original screenplay of the Waffle House vid will be a collector's item one day.

I thought Elliott was an exciting candidate, but I think Collins gives us the same upside potential with less risk.

Kinda odd for Tony to talk openly about his interest after the fact, but whatever.

If the fix was in for Collins from the start, well, I will call that good foresight by TStan because I like the hire. If the fix was in for Whisenhunt, I would be livid.

I still don't understand why people are pissed with how this went down. Assuming that our Athletic Director had in his mind that he was going to have to replace his football head coach at the end of this year it doesn't bother me in the slightest that he did his own due diligence and research a long time prior to having to make a decision. I feel like that's a far better way to do your job than to wait until the last minute and then take a short period of time to evaluate candidates for a multi-million dollar decision.

What I CAN understand is if people are upset that a candidate they wanted and feel is better than CGC didn't get the job. I have no problem with that at all. I would imagine that the candidates who were not considered seriously did not meet whatever criteria were in TStan's mind. I'd really be surprised if a number of candidates weren't looked at/vetted during the season. It wouldn't surprise me if TStan has had his eye on Geoff for quite a while and when the opportunity came to bring him in he took it. And again, I have no problem with that. If TStan really believes Geoff is the guy who meets our unique situation then I am willing to trust his judgment since he understands GT athletics better than I do, having played here, and understands the coaching landscape FAR better than I do.

Who is pissed with the way this went down?
