DAMN this is a gut punch-but-it's his life and his life decision. I'm sure his reasoning (whatever it is) is in his own best interest and that is his personal business. Wish him the best, but it STILL hurts as a fan.
Anyone that graduates Tech in three years and played football gets my respect. You've got to be smart and driven to do that. He can stand on the field all he wants, whenever he wants.

Eh, I can see being a little ticked the way CPJ and the current players have been badmouthed. He may also not like the new regime. Or maybe he wants his last year to be more than just a minor bowl.

It doesn’t matter, CGC will either be able to replicate CGO’L success or he won’t. It is best to have guys who have bought in.

not to completely öööö on graduating in three years, but football players go to school in the summer. so he graduated in 9 semesters. no as impressive as it sounds at first.

You can’t tell me that a year under Brent Key in a more pro style offense wasn’t going to prepare him for the NFL, which was the stated rationale for his transfer.

Did he issue a statement? I haven’t seen one.

Where have they been badmouthed?

I have a question. Did Braun set this into motion before CPJ announced his retirement and only announcing it now or did he decide after CGC was hired.

Just wondering if the timing is making this look like something it isn't.

I believe he was chosen as one of the captains for the off-season workout teams so he was at least a part of the team the last few weeks. He seemed disinterested in Detroit and left quickly afterwards so perhaps he was considering leaving the last 6 weeks. But, he seems to have given CGC a chance and either did not connect or just chose to move on.

Getting an undergrad from GT for free and starting a masters for free at UF, Vandy, etc. is not a bad four years. If this were about going to the NFL, he would just declare and go now. This seems like it is about life more than football. He also seemed to have a great relationship with PJ so CGC likely has rubbed him the wrong way as PJ and GC are quite different people.

I've read elsewhere that the Braun family are good friends with PJ and that Braun's dad coaches option football in high school. If true, it sounds like Braun might just wanna have 1 more year of floppin' & choppin'.

Doubt he goes to a option team. I could see him going to a pro set team though.

Seriously? The entire mantra for the change has been recruiting. We have to get better recruiting if we want to compete. We have bottom of the league talent.

Regardless of the truthfulness of those statements, it is absolutely derogatory towards the current roster.

Truth hurt but that’s not something i would call derogatory

Mr. Braun went to West Point and played football there. He is an OL coach. I would guess he connected with PJ as well as any father who had a kid on the team. My guess is Parker is a lot like his father.

I could not disagree more. If I were a player, I would be very happy about the injection of juice into the program. Coaching changes happen all the time, the new guy has the right to put his stamp on the program. To infer that this is somehow indirectly disrespectful is complete nonsense. Was CPJ's conversion to the triple option disrespectful to Gailey? Who the hell cares?

Sorry but nine straight semesters with football on top is impressive. I sure as hell couldn't have done it.
