I've always felt we haven't sold the education enough. Or Atlanta. I like where this could be going.
Yeah, if they get the ATL/404/hometown hero thing going, it is going to make all the difference in the world.

It is not unfathomable to realign college football in this state to where people and recruits in the city think of GT as their team and think of UGAy as the college for the hayseeds OTP.

Bud and G. Wayne both shot down that marketing approach for decades (connect GT to the ATL). Their belief was/is that GT is a world-renowned university that just happens to be in Atlanta, not an "Atlanta University" (think of the University of Chicago, MIT, etc.) Because they felt that the university should market itself that way, they both limited the AA's ability to effectively market as the local college to Atlanta kids.

May their names never be uttered on The Flats again.

G. Wayne was great for Tech. He didn't like that marketing approach from the AA, but that's peanuts compared to his accomplishments. Bud, on the other hand, has been a disaster.
That seems so damn myopically stupid. Why didn't G. Wayne get that there is a difference between the football team and the profile of the school? MIT and Chicago don't have Div-I athletic programs. I get that GT used to be a really good regional university but then expanded beyond that. Simply trying to brand your sports team to a region wouldn't have made us go backwards on the academic side.

I can't point to many Bud accomplishments. He generally let the hick, State of Georgia legislature bitch slap us around.

Rural Georgia can go die on a ööööing vine as far as I'm concerned.

Easy on rural GA, there are kids there whom we will want.

Check out Key's body language at the start of the press conference. Did not want to be there. Did not want to talk to the media. Just wanted to go coach.

Kinda like Tenuta.

So I am less worried about him becoming a HFC somewhere else the next year or two.

In years time, Key will be our head coach
