Future Games at MBS

If you say so. I'm pretty sure the exact question was "Will the TBD games be ACC games?" and the response was "Yes, the TBD games will be ACC games. Who exactly they will be depends on schedule..."

I've been wrong a time or two though.

EDIT: Just rewatched and he does confirm they will be ACC games.
touche, I lost the feed for a little so I only heard that they will be announced when ACC schedule is finalized

I’m listening to ESPNU and they are about to have Bill Curry on. They just said, “there are fewer greater minds about football than Bill Curry.” Funny because I think most internet GT fans don’t think that highly of him. I guess a prophet is without honor in his own country.

Bet Curry has no idea when GT is playing at MBS nor whom in 2020. Lol

curry is a pompous, self aggrandizing jerk. He will somehow try to take credit for what good comes from this.

So, while I don't like giving up the 2020 ND game in Bobby Dodd, I feel like we're kind of gaining something by not having to travel to South Bend in 2024 (which I presume would have been the plan?).

Edit: Nevermind, looks like that was supposed to be a home game too. That kind of sucks. Maybe it can be at Bobby Dodd again in 2032

CGC has nothing to do with this. He will support it and sell it to recruits but he had 0% to do with this.

Yeah, we are not Bama where the head football coach has the ultimate say-so in everything. Besides, I am sure with something this big, the discussions were well underway before he got here. This is TStan's deal 100 percent.

There's a reason the factories love these neutral site games in Atlanta. We already play in Atlanta. We don't need games at MBS to play up that brand. Undoubtedly we are going to spin it that way but this is about revenue, period. These games always have huge upside for Tennessee, Alabama, Clemson etc.

Regardless of the advantages for Tech, Clemson was just given a huge gift that they didn't have to do anything for.
Although I'm in favor of the idea, the fact that we listed Revenue as the 6th reason in a list of 6 reasons, almost certainly means it was the #1 and driving factor. :)

I hope you're right – though I'd be surprised if something this big, and affecting football, were done without his sign off.

The more I think about this, the more alarmed I am by it. CGC's first big mis-step, IMHO.

If we're allowing CGC to unilaterally make these decisions, seems like that would be the AD's misstep. It would also beg the question why we're paying TStan to be AD. Seems like that would be a good cost-cutting opportunity.

But really, this is something that's been under discussion before CGC was ever hired, not something that sprung up in the last couple months.

Straw man much?

This is horrible. This is the AA's attempt to generate more money from our big games by selling more tickets to visiting fans.

Essentially we're minimizing whatever modest home field advantage we had when we played ND and Clemson, so that we can get some more money.

True if we only want to live in the "recruit against mercer, CPJ vision of GT football".

But he future is changing Thank God.

We've got VPI at home in 2021 and 2023. That would surely be one of the TBD. Our crossover opponent for 2021 is Boston College, which isn't really exciting. 2023 against Louisville would be a candidate.

Why would he want to? We gave up our home games, not them.

Ask the poster who referenced Dabo.

I am for being better than 52.5% winning against p5.

I think too many are looking at this today instead of 2 years from now.

F..k n.d.and keep their hypocritical azz off the GT campus.

Up to us to make it the game it should be at MBS.

Question for those unhappy about this deal - imagine if UG had made this deal to play a game per year at MBS. Would you have been pissed? I'll go out on a limb and guess you would be. I'd have been pissed that UG was upstaging us 0.9 miles from our campus. So if you would have been pissed if they did it, why aren't you happy that we did it?

I think it will work. I haven't been buying season tickets (in Knoxville), but seriously considering grabbing a couple in upper north just so I can have a bite at primo seats for these games, especially the ND games. I doubt I'm totally alone.

No, I wouldn't have really cared. If they want to give up an on-campus home game every year, that's their prerogative.

So does anyone know what the season tickets sold for the year we played TN in MBS? Was there an uptick in sales that year compared to other odd years, i.e. '11, '13, '15 vs '17? You might get more people on board to buy season tickets.

Paul Johnson will be the last GT coach to beat Clemson in BDS. Big name schools are going to take this and run with it. I cannot believe we just gave away TWO home games with ND.

They do. It’s called the SECCG. And they didn’t give up a home game to do it.

They do give up a home game every other year to play UF in Jax. They have had six home games a few years in a row now. They play UVA in MBS in 2019.
