Future Games at MBS

But we also weren't under the impression that we'd be having two games with them at BDS during that time that then ended up getting rescheduled to play elsewhere (or maybe that did happen, I was too young to know or care for most of that time period).

I mean, I get the reasoning. I'm not going to boycott or throw a hissy fit or anything. And I'll likely still be attending and enjoying myself. It still bums me a out a bit though to move two home games with Notre Dame.
I agree with you. Disappointed but understand why and know CGC will turn it into a positive.

If you are the head man, you don't even have to think twice what Tech fans will say / think / feel. You know they are going to complain. But, if it helps the long term health of the program (which I think this does) then you do what is right.

I don't get why trading a home game with 30-40% away fans for a neutral site game 1 mile away, on national TV, in a great venue that will be 50% away fans is even an issue.

The Tennessee game was fun. I wonder if any of the complainers actually attended it.

Well Tech fans are also the ones I hear most often complaining about MBS, so there's that too.

Pretty funny that some of you think Notre Dame would give up a home game to play in Atlanta... against a team based in Atlanta.

Negative ghost rider. That's what I thought too, but due to the weird Notre Dame/ACC tie-in scheduling, I believe we were actually supposed to be playing them in BDS in 2020 and 2024.

Yeah. We play up there 2021. We are giving up two home games against them.

Likening this to neutral site series like Texas/OU is just wrong. This is something we would do to Tulane. This is embarrassing.

People really need to look at the bidnass side of this to understand why this is a great idea.

Besides, if you like tailgating on campus so much, I don't think anything is going to stop you from doing so.

I’m listening to ESPNU and they are about to have Bill Curry on. They just said, “there are fewer greater minds about football than Bill Curry.” Funny because I think most internet GT fans don’t think that highly of him. I guess a prophet is without honor in his own country.

Bet Curry has no idea when GT is playing at MBS nor whom in 2020. Lol
I actually do think highly of him, but I don't think he would have made this deal.

Listen to the interview with TStan afterwards. He pointed out the fact that the 2022 game is a Chick Fil A game and it would not be a Tech home game in terms of tickets
This is what the email says:
"For the 2022 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game (vs. Clemson), Georgia Tech will have access to a wider variety of seating options than it did for the 2017 Chick-fil-A Game against Tennessee, while Clemson will receive a visitor’s ticket allotment (for the 2017 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, Georgia Tech and Tennessee received equal ticket allotments, which made the seating options that GT could offer its fans more limited)."

Sounds like we will get a bigger allotment than Clemson but still likely many premium seats will go to sponsors and others. The Tennessee game was the first (maybe second) event in MBS so I'm guessing many of the PSL holders opted to purchase tickets. I'm optimistic than more PSL holders will opt out for our future events at MBS. I sat next to a PSL holder and he was talking about how they keep the face price of tickets high so it's hard to make a profit by scalping tickets so he only opts into buying tickets to events he actually wants to attend. He said Super Bowl tickets were $9k each and Taylor Swift was 400-500.

They should allow campus tailgating and have shuttles to the dome.

People also need to stop thinking/saying we are giving up home games, we aren't giving up öööö. We are simply moving our home games to a different venue.

Where'd the ööööing juice go around here? by 2022 and 2024 MBS will be 90% Tech and 10% ND/Clemson

I'm guessing it will be a 60%-40% to 70%-30% allotment in favor of us. Pure speculation though

Honestly tailgating may be better around MBS than on campus by 2021.

Based on the e-mail, 20, 21, 23, and 24 are GT home games with GT having the majority of the stadium in our inventory to sell. For 22, Clemson will get a visitor's allotment (versus the 50/50 split we had with Tennessee). So in all the games, it sounds like we'll have more than enough inventory to match or outsell BDS capacity, if we can actually get that many butts in the seats. Even if the visitors buy a bunch of our tickets, at least they'll be giving GT money to do so. It also sounds like we'll probably be able to get better seats than we did for UT.

All things considered, I'd rather be playing in BDS (just like I said about the UT game), but if we play our cards right, we could have a decent experience down there and come out ahead financially.

Been on the fence since the news came out, but I am on board. MBS needs events and we need money. Made sense to work out a deal. Easy to see how this can be used as a recruiting tool, as well. Embrace it and get juiced!
Agree with above. Only wish we didn’t move both Norte Dame games. As Andrew said that 2006 game was one of the best atmospheres / make that the best atmosphere / at BDS for me personally. Nonetheless excited and will be present.

He is somewhat right in his generalizations. Swift was I think $400 for the best club seats. Most expensive Super Bowl were $5000 but no one got those. Most Super Bowl face received were either $2000 or $2800.

If they started selling beer at Bobby Dodd, Tech fans would complain.

Also, they sell beer at the Benz. It is nice to drink beer and watch Tech play football live.

The fact that message board dummies are complaining indicates that this is a genius decision.

Tstan/GTAA: lol, we took a big dump on our school but dabo promised to buy those extra tickets!
Me: I think hosting big name schools is great for the program.
StingTalk: it’s not that far from campus. 404 chants! We can only sell half the tickets anyways. 2006 ND @BDS was only fun because they were #2. They play NFL games there. There’s no other way to get on television. UGa has a neutral site game. I can wait another 25 years to play them at home. My wife only cheats on the weekends. Omg uniforms! Helicopter. Juicy juice and tweets about Waffle House!

Are we really this stupid?

The first thing that's going to come from it is UGA is going to demand all GT home games be played at the Benz, while all UGA home games are still played in Athens. Then FSU, Miami, ND, and Clemson will do the same. Then the only games in Bobby Dodd will be Wake Forest or whatever. Then we will forever become a whore to the football factories.

So.

Dumb.

Dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Well, our name will be in both end zones and throughout the stadium and field, about the same as it is at bds when the cesspool visits, so I wouldn't see much difference.

Seriously?

Garbage.

Just burn BDS down. It's just the Wake Forest stadium apparently.
