Can anyone recall who the old stadium PA announcer was in the 60s, 79s, etc....he would describe a play “on the carry, Eddie Lee Ivery....tacklers led by...”, “illegal use of hands and arms; holding called on Duke”, and “in deep punt formation...”?

Al Ciraldo and Jack Hurst did some games together in the '50's and 60's. Ciraldo continued as the play-by-play announcer after Hurst left.

John Pendergast?

Stadium PA was Les Hendrikson. He was replaced after Fulcher came in by Dave Kaplan, Bevo West's Asst SID who'd come in from Florida & tried to intro "Heeeeere come the Jackets.....," as the Wreck came onto the field before the opening KO.

Press Box PA was Poochie Hartsfield.

Is that the guy who was there through the 2000s? That will always be my favorite. That hard monotone enunciation.

Made me think of this...

#40 Eddie Lee Ivory

Dang, look at how well we traveled back then. That's a lot of gold in the stands.

Tech had beaten uga 16-7 the year before, with Eddie Lee running all over the dawgs in 1977. The MDJ newspaper headline read, "Tech in Ivory Tower". The Yellow Jackets had won seven games in a row in 1978 before losing to Notre Dame the week before this game.
