Possible Transfer?

Because Florida's defense is really really good and ours is not. At the very least he'll be added depth to a position of need.
Even if he could come in as a backup DE, that's a win right now.

I have seen comments that many gators want him to stay and they think he would see significant playing time this fall.

I guess because the coaching staff considers him worth a scholarship. A better question is what does the staff see in him that you don't. I'd guess quite a bit since I doubt you've seen him play or practice.
Have our coaches actually said anything about him?

It's not unheard of for a talented guy to get lost in the shuffle at a factory school. For one, they are recruiting 4 and 5 star guys at his position every year. He also went through a coaching and scheme change. The coaches who came in didn't recruit him and may not have known how to best use him. Of course, it is possible he is simply a bust, but I think he would have enough potential upside to use a scholarship on for two years. Whether our staff is interested enough to pursue him, I dunno.

Why wouldn't we think he's at least as good as what we've had the past 10 years?

Interesting question.

I'm guessing (others may be able to clarify) but I can't think of any instances of a coach commenting on a transfer until the SA announces it and crosses the point of no return. I think its a code of coaches not encouraging athletes to transfer so they usually keep mum as though (or as if) they in no way influenced or enticed the kid to transfer.

No. Kerry Dixon follows him on Twitter, but he used to work at UF, I think. People are just connecting the dots because he mentioned CGC in his tweet and because he fits a big need. I don't know if we are actually going to pursue him.

I asked my question because of this comment by you in reference to why we would want him here:

"I guess because the coaching staff considers him worth a scholarship. A better question is what does the staff see in him that you don't. I'd guess quite a bit since I doubt you've seen him play or practice."

So if the coaches haven't actually expressed interest in him transferring in, the question still remains. Why do we think he'd be good here.

The comment on him at least being a good backup makes a lot of sense. We definitely need some talent on the DL.

Just reading through the FL board comments here's what I put together as a possibility. The current coaches want him to play with his hand in the ground and he's a hybrid rush DE and rush OLB and does not fit hand on the ground and was not recruited by CGC for that. Maybe , just maybe he could also play some tight end. CGC recruited him for some or all of the mentioned and knows how to best utilize him, so he wants to come fulfill the role he was originally recruited for. Further, he has a new baby son and needs to have a chance to play on Sunday and make some $ (Smelter), so he is even further motivated to succeed. All pure speculation on my part. Hell, he may not even be thinking GT, who knows.
