You mean the fact he didn't end up making the team confirms he shouldn't have been drafted?

I don't think that's right.
I only know a few former NFL players and only a couple folks with sports franchise front office experience, so I'm no expert, but I do believe standard practice would dictate that you don't draft players unless you believe they can make the team. He's tried, he didn't. This fact confirms that 32 organizations evaluated his potential accurately and chose to pursue higher value targets. Some of those didn't pan out either, which is neither profound or interesting.

Our biggest weakness under Gailey, and yes, I am a fan of Reggie, was our total inability to recruit a QB. How in the hell can you not get a excwptional QB when you have recruited Calvin Johnson and Demaryious Thomas?
The biggest problem with Gailey's NFL offense, IMO, was the fact it was ultra conservative and seemingly designed to make less mistakes than your opponent. This would keep lesser opponents in the game longer than they should have. It would also give us a fighting chance against superior talent if they made mistakes and we didnt. So against decent/better competition we'd either play a tight game (won in the 4th quarter by a play or two by either team) or get totally blown out of the water, 51-7 style, if our offense turned it over a couple times. I hated Gailey's offense then and still do today.

The idea that because he wasn't drafted, or didn't make a team, means he didn't have NFL talent ignores a ton of factors, like the right player needing to get on the right team which has the opening at the right point in time... or injuries that are over-estimated... or college-scheme-effects that are over-estimated... or – most importantly – the plain fact of human error in trying to predict the future based on the past.

Your argument implies that teams don't make mistakes, which is obviously untrue. The NFL is perhaps a better talent-sorting mechanism than most, but it screws up all the dang time. Tom Brady drafted 199 in 2000; Joe Hamilton drafted 234 in 2000; to name an obvious comparison pair.

This is akin to "you are what your record says you are." Sure... yet the 10-0 loses to the 0-10 team now and then.

Is the walk-on at Elon who never makes the two deep worthy of an FBS scholarship offer?

All things considered, including QB play, he probably coached his butt off to win 7 last year.
I somewhat agree with this statement and not to be a know-it-all - thought it last Fall. What still amazes me - was his ability to just destroy the likes of Louisville and Va. Tech. They had as much talent as we did but his offensive system which seemed so plain just destroyed them with the simplest of play - QB around the end. Granted the blocking schemes were not as simple as that sounds but still. Then you would watch UGA, Clemson, and Minnesota just manhandle us like rag dolls. No scheme works against that.

Cerge-Henderson to Bucs mini-camp. Brad Stewart to 49ers mini-camp. Good luck to 'em.
Wow, Brad Stewart is getting a chance. That's awesome. He probably wouldn't get a look at the "new GT" but I loved his story, how he got to GT, and what he did for the team. Think about all the guys like that – Tony Zenon comes to mind – that aren't going to make the grade here now. It's a little bittersweet.

I will console myself with all the wins.

Or a Godhigh. But hey, I don't think those stories are totally out of the question now. We have taken some diamond in the rough candidates already (albeit they are guys with measurables). Plus, CGC loves playing walk-ons so maybe those feel good stories will come from those ranks. Blancato may see the field this year, for example.

Agree on Stewart. I really hope he can land on a practice squad, at the very least.
