2020 Recruiting

Or maybe we won't have room for the kid who hasn't cracked the 3 deep at UM.
We very much want Myles Sims. He just finished redshirting his freshman year there. It's not a can't crack the 3 deep issue. It's a homesick issue.

To be fair, it's both.

Michigan Football: Myles Sims transfer is all about secondary depth chart
Michigan football defensive back Myles Sims has reportedly placed his name in the transfer portal and did so after getting passed up on the depth chart.

That said, we need quality football players at every position, and as ever, i will trust the coaching staff to find the best!

You honestly think Michigan media would publish anything different? I highly doubt you'd ever see the headline, "Myles Sims transfer is because he doesn't like it here and wants to be back home."

I dunno, what do you think?

From Michigan Insider:

DEVIN ASIASI (FEBRUARY 21, 2017)

Evidently due to homesickness, former top-100 tight end Devin Asiasi transferred after one semester at Michigan, and eventually wound up at UCLA. After catching two passes for 18 yards and a score and making waves as a blocker in Ann Arbor, Asiasi hauled in six catches for 130 yards and a touchdown for the Bruins this fall.

Sims is a take, regardless of his reasons for transferring. No question that guys are no longer interested in "waiting their turn" under the new transfer rules. Add in some homesickness and it's a no brainer. In the future, we will keep players like him home to begin with.

He was their highest rated recruit nationally according to Rivals for 2018. He's a redshirt freshman. The only way he got 'passed on the depth chart' is if an early enrollee from the 2019 class jumped him on the basis of one Spring practice. If you want to believe this portends that he is a bust and Michigan is bailing on their highest rated recruit from literally a year ago and processing him, that's your prerogative. But I'm telling you, from the sources I've read, we want him.

Yeah he’s one of the best players to ever come out of Westlake. I believe Westlake still has more players in the NFL that any other High school in the country. Getting a stud from Westlake helps now and for years to come.

Collins and this staff have a history of developing DB's at Miss State, Florida, and Temple. I am sure that is being employed. We could, and should, become a Mecca for defensive backs that aspire to the NFL. And another poster correctly stated that to pull a kid in from Westlake in the 404 would reap all sorts of dividends.

Harbaugh: "Don't need him, don't want him, doesn't fit Big Ten football".

16/19 national champs since 2000 have been southern teams, and that doesn't include Southern Cal.
17 of the past 19 Super Bowl champs have been non-southern teams. 9 of those teams are based within the Big 10 footprint.

I’m a lifelong Atlantan, and I’m just as likely to watch an NC State - Wake Forest game as I am a Falcons game. My non-southern friends are the other way around. The South dominates college football because it’s more popular - and generates more revenue - than anywhere else. Likely because of that, we’re not as rabid about our pro teams, and the results show. Your premise is ludicrous since the NFL uses a draft and salary system, while college football uses recruiting from high schools. If you want to sign all blue-chippers, go for it. Tell me how the NFL does that?

I live in the south and I'm just as likely to play with myself than watch an NC State-WF game but I guess to each his own.
