How would we react if one of our players wanted to transfer to Clempsen? This is approaching NFL-type free agency. Will compensation eventually be required between teams?
Sadly, this is how it is now. You take the good with the bad. You take one of mine, I'll take one of yours.

He's a graduate transfer, so I don't think any restrictions would be a consideration.

Imagine if the Comments Section on ajc
Articles were still a thing...

Georgia fans would be blowing a gasket trying to defend coach bowl cut

Isn't it kind of expected that a player will no longer be with the team if they enter the transfer portal?

Fact is, most S/As will not transfer from where they are. If it comes to that we have a problem. So i have no problem with this going on.

But I am getting tired of the whining about S/As making all this money (and face it, we are talking football here) for the school and not getting their fair share back. Bullcrap.

Going to college is not suppose to be, in and of itself, a money making proposition. The scumbag politicians declared that all the sports programs (whether wanted by the schools or not) have to be funded at a certain level. WHERE did the money come from? Ticket sales for those sports? B.S.

Of course playing football is hard work - duh. But that doesn't mean they should make money during college to do it. That is why they got a ship.

If a kid wants to make money during their college years, pay their own way and take their time while working.

Hell, our grandsons friend said screw college and became a damn welder. He makes a boatload of money.

Colleges that have huge tons of cash are due to donations mainly.

Let football keep ALL the money it generates THEN we can talk about paying players more. But they are not entitled to make a profit beyond their education while a 19 year old S/A.

The writer is a typical, whining nutcase in that regard.

Players do not deserve to be paid. Players should be able to transfer with immediate eligibility if there is a coaching change. Recruits who have signed a LOI should be released if there is a coaching change. If a player transfers after red shirting and they have to sit out another year, the player should receive a sixth year of eligibility.

CFB carries the whole load except for MBB which carries itself. They need to do away with title 9 and let the other sports carry themselves. Title 9 is really the reason coaches salaries started rising, when coaches realized how important the revenue from CFB was to athletic depts., they could start demanding salaries. It has since taken on a life of it's own. If colleges are going to have to start compensating FB players beyond education, then the other sports will need to make it on their own. This is a great lesson in the principals of socialism and free mkt. When you have forced redistribution, the producers hurt and it starts collapsing. Looking more and more to me like that is where we are headed. Where and how do they strap the forced redistribution on the tax payers, ticket payers etc. It's coming looks to me like, don't know exactly how, but coming. Do they force something that makes it so that a lot of schools will have to make a decision to drop out? Don't know. Probably not. My bet is that they're coming after more of your and my money. Did not know the NCAA made a billion bucks off CFB, for what might I ask, not a damn thing looks to me like. No wonder they cater to the big schools and put up a front tearing into little schools like GT. My guess is when the dust settles we all pay more and the NCAA ends up with much more than a billion, we'll see.

I'm with you in spirit, man. Socialism is ruining everything.

But I don't think Title IX is responsible for college coaches' salary inflation. That's due to the fact that the ST football forum has garnered 1.2 million posts in its existence, and the GT other sports forum has generated 94k posts in its existence. That's why football coaches get paid a ton of money.

The key in what I said here is "started rising" and "It has since taken on a life of it's own." I truly believe this based on conversations i had with people connected to the field back then, but maybe they were wrong or maybe it just took a few to start it and then competitive demand kicked in. Certainly not worth arguing about, because as CPJ used to say it is what it is. CFB pays for most all the other sports except MBB if I heard someone at GTAA right some years back. That's a lot of cost to bear for a FB program like GT.

Players don't "deserve" to be paid?!? There's many convincing enough cases against paying players, but that's a ludicrous statement.
