2020 Recruiting

Has everything to do with 2020 recruiting. Athens is a ööööhole. Show me where athletes can intern in Athens compared to Atlanta. Show me where those athletes will get the same opportunities to intern. Show me what they have majored in to qualify as an intern.
Basically, you go to UGAg to play football and hope for the NFL. If that doesn't happen, and you don't have intern experience in Athens, then what?
You are completely discounting the super Walmart and the several QT's in the metro Athens area. There is opportunity galore in these organizations.

As much as I hate Athens, you really think foosball players going to Athens are worried about intern opportunities? Let's be realistic. Still, Atlanta kicks Athens' ass, but these guys are not committing because Atlanta had more internship opportunities than Athens.

Foosball is for teenage soccer players that get cut from their JV team.

Of all the prospects and commits I've seen interviews with, the one the AJC had with McLaughlin after his OV was by far the most impressive to me. Sounded the most sincere and genuine and thought-out of the bunch. Plus, getting back into the Tampa Jesuit pipeline could be big.
I will give CGC and his staff props for a ramped up and amped up recruiting push. But I read the comments from kids after visits and wonder if there isn't a level of astroturfing going on. When one or two say they are changing the culture there, I started to wonder - how do they know? Were they making visits under the previous staff? I had not seen anything to say that had taken place.
A lot of the prospects and commits are saying the same things in the same manner, as if they are coached to do that. Not saying it's good or bad; it's just a thing. And probably a good strategy. Get the kids to say that stuff publicly and it's part of the battle.

I think a lot of it just perception of what our culture was before and what it is now. We had the rep of being an antiquated program with an old school offense/coach that didn't really jive with the city of Atlanta, and what guys are seeing on social media, their OVs, etc. suggests that this is no longer the case.

Exactly.

The nerd paradigm is dead. It won’t recruit, it won’t sell tickets, it won’t elevate the brand, it won’t score TDS or make game saving tackles.

It only makes excuses.

Get whatever education you want. Have a career in whatever field you want.

But if you get a FB ship to GT - do it to win big against everybody you line up against.

What does astroturfing mean?

Also everyone saying the same thing could be a sign of insincerity — or just everyone pulling in the same direction, ie, good coaching. It’s all perspective I guess.
