I went to the bookstore to grab one yesterday and was so disappointed by them that I left empty handed.

They are fitted in the Adidas "flexfit" fashion - which, as stated above, is pretty terrible.

There is absolutely nothing on the back of the hat. Just a blank blue back. Not a huge deal, but seems like it needs something back there.

The quality is terrible. The stitching of the T and just the overall hat itself.

I went back and forth on going ahead and buying it anyway, but in the end I didn't think it was worth the $30 price tag. I'm sure it'll be in the Adidas outlet stores soon. Hopefully we can get some better stuff soon. To say Adidas has been a let down so far would be an understatement. The on the field stuff has looked pretty good, but the stuff available for purchase is crap.

I went to the Adidas store at an outlet mall .. not impressed. I walked thru and out in 2 minutes. Everything was overpriced too ...

Having said that .. I like Adidas and glad they are on board. Anything beats the R word.

I just posted about trip to Adidas outlet (in Woodstock) .. it was a yawn fest. There was no collegiate gear of any kind, any team. It looked more a like bad 1990's mall store.

It would take a whole helleva engineer lot for me to pay $30 for any hat. I top out around $20.

Outlet stores all suck these days. Everything in outlets is typically made for the outlets instead of just being stuff that didn't sell at the main store. Not to mention the pricing usually isn't great anymore either. Nike is the worst. The stuff in there is at or barely below retail.

I work in Woodstock, so I go over to those outlets from time to time. They typically have college stuff during football season (both Nike and Adidas - don't believe UA does). I was more making reference to the quality of the hat (seemingly on the outlet store level) than the actual likelihood of it ending up at the outlet though.

I go to the those outlets for one store: Columbia. It's great stuff and if you hit the times right, very good deals. I literally drive over there, go to Columbia and leave. Only reason I went to Adidas once was b/c it's directly across from Columbia.

They ship from their in-store inventory, so you'll be getting whatever they have out on the shelves.
I figured that may be the case but took a chance. At the very least, I’ve set it up where I can roast adidas for putting out öööö before I send it back.

It appears to be low quality and certainly doesn't match what the baseball team wore.

Bunch of whiners. But the T ain't straight! Like you're gonna wear the hat perfectly aligned on your misshaped skulls anyways.

Folks asked for a hat from the GTAA, they gave them a hat.

The problem is that is isn't difficult to make the hat that the team wore. It makes zero sense to not sell the hat that people asked for, not a cheap knockoff. It's like buying a Rolex on the streets in DC. They either tried to do this in haste or cut corners for profit margin.

Yeah, I am curious if whatever faults this hat may have, if they are not at the direction of GTAA.

"They want a hat with the T on it, well give them one. Oh, and by the way, no reason we can't make a little extra coin in the deal."

The interlocking GT is the best logo in college sports. Don't run away from it, embrace it, abuse it by overusing it.

It's quite possible that for a quick, small batch, first run GTAA and Adidas worked with a local firm to stitch the T on a base blue Adidas hat.

That's what I'm hoping for, and I may wait until the second batch comes out before I buy one. I've seen another closeup pic of the one they are selling in the bookstore. It is stitched and not quite as bad looking as the one in TStan's post, but still not the same as the original. I'll see what the next batch looks like but will probably end up buying it anyway even if it's still the same.

Was there also not a GT, Buzz logo, or TECH on the back of those hats the team wore? I thought there was something else there too.

EDIT: Nvm, I just looked back at pics, there was nothing else on the hat. But the Adidas logo was gold also. Are the ones the bookstore is selling white? It's hard to tell with the lighting on those pics. If the logo is white, that is a 100% tell tale sign that they took some off the shelf generic navy Adidas hats and had these embroidered. Likely as a rush order. I would think an Adidias produced item would have all gold stitching.

They made this has with the block T because a large portion of the fan base (myself included) specifically requested it. TStan was listening to the fan base. There is plenty of gear available with the GT and Buzz logos.

I don't think anybody's gripe is with the GTAA, it's with the crappy quality of the product that Adidas responded with.

It's like asking for a jersey for Christmas and then finding the Walmart version under the tree. If somebody else is buying, I'll live with it, but I'm not spending my money on it.

That brings me to another point: Typically the hat the baseball team wears has been available in the bookstore (from back when we had TPX, to when we had a brief period with New Era, to most recently when "The Game" provided the hats to go with that last Russell jerseys). All of those were priced around that $25-$30 price point (New Era may have maxed out at $35, but the quality on those is superb). It'd be one thing if the put this crappy version of the hat out for $20, but $30? Does that mean that if the actual hat comes out it's going to be more?
