I think "Never say never" but I'll be surprised if he leaves Clemson to coach another college football team. He's been at Clemson for 17 years and his name has become synonymous with Clemson football. He has far more latitude to run the program as he sees fit at Clemson than he ever would at Bama.

Still, you never know until the opportunity presents itself. I think we find out for sure in 2-3 years.
And there's the lake.

Hi everyone! Yes, I'm another Clemson fan invading your territory. I'm here because you guys are our next opponent and I'm interested in reading your thoughts. You are one of our oldest rivals after all. So far, I've seen enough to know that more than a few of your fans don't have much use for our fans. That's ok. Passionate fans are among the things I love most about college football. I promise to give respect for respect.

That's about it. I just wanted to introduce myself before I butt in on someone's post. Let's get started. August 29th can't get here fast enough to suit me.
Better enjoy it while you can. Dabo will go back home to Bama within the next 2-3 years. Then Clemson will be irrelevant again.

No one actually wants to tell you about our team I see. As you know our triple option coach quit on us last season. Well, the new guy is installing the quadruple option. On defense our strength is the DL which is returning a bunch of size and experience and I think led the ACC in sacks the last 3 years. Our defensive woes have been related to coverage schemes that are just too aggressive, especially on 3rd down. So we are moving to a soft zone coverage.

Hope this helps and make sure you pass it on to Dabo. Obviously we're in position to threaten you for best team in the ACC so you'll need any advantage you can get.

I have a ton of respect for Clemson and Dabo and the fan base. I've been to many a game in Death Valley was always treated well. There have been many, MANY great games in the past and I believe there will be in the future...just not on August 29.

No. No. This is all wrong.

Go tell the Dab-ster we are NO threat. They should rent a boat on the lake between now and game-time. Start your scrubs, and tell Lawrence, both lines, and your other top players to get baked and enjoy the game.

Thanks for the info. I would pass it on to Dabo but I don't actually know him. It appears that your secret is safe with me.

That's pretty much what Cumberland did. Worked out ok for them. Actually, if memory serves, I don't think they even had a team anymore. They had to send some guys to Atlanta to get wiped out so they could avoid a breach of contract.

Am I right?

I'm curious. What do you see in Dabo that makes you believe he will return to Alabama as their coach (heck, he might) and, if he does, what factors will come into play to prevent Clemson from maintaining a successful football program?

Dabo will leave to coach at his alma mater and Clemson will hire a Bowden equivalent.

I was having a conversation with a VT alum this week and it was both of our opinions that the best visiting fans to each of our respective stadiums were the Clemson fans, just our 2 opinions of course. I feel this opening game with you guys is a nice opportunity to let the world know this is a new GT fb program, but most gt fans know this is a monstrous change and will take a few years for us to complete, but I personally am glad for the opportunity to begin it with you guys and get on with the rebuild.
Best of luck to you guys this year, interested to see the new version of the Clemson tigers. Go Jackets!!!

If Dabo leaves Clemson within 3 years, the next head coach will likely be either Jeff Scott or Brandon Streeter. I would include Tony Elliot in the mix but I have a feeling he will already be a head coach somewhere else possibly as soon as next year. That's just a hunch.

I have no idea what the future holds for Clemson football, and yes, I intend to enjoy it while it lasts. When I see predictions that Dabo WILL return to Bama and that Clemson WILL sink back into mediocrity, I have to smile. They all seem to be heavy on wishful thinking and very light on logic or analysis. I'm pretty sure that type of thinking isn't taught in any of Ga Tech's engineering classes.

Most of us honestly try to be good ambassadors for our school wherever we are. I don't claim a monopoly on that either. Unfortunately, none of us can claim to have a 100% congenial fan base. So it goes.

You have a good coach but he's going to have his hands full installing a brand new offensive system. The road could be rough in the early going but you should reap some dividends as early as year two. Maybe even late this season. I'm just ready to get the season started. I need me some college football.

I like Clemson fans. Every time I have been to Death Valley, fans have been friendly and one year some clemson fans just gave me a parking pass and invited me to tailgate. I don't like the fans who jump on and off the bandwagon. A friend of mine can't tell you anything about Clemson football prior to 2015. He runs his mouth, yet he does not remember the years when Tech this controlled this series. Those are the annoying ones and the ones who make you hate Clemson. Just don't act like UGA fans
