Agree and disagree about the DBs. Yes it's tough for them to to get off blocks and make tackles, but they can influence a lot about the direction of a play based on the angles they take at running backs.Defense was solid, but ran out of gas for obvious reasons. Clemson exploited our aggressiveness by running a lot of counter and trap plays.
This is made worse by us not giving the 10 yard cushion. Our DBs are in a tough position to make the stops at the second level.
Etienne's 90 yd counter TD is a perfect example. Our nickel corner took the inside angle on the play, allowing Etienne to bounce outside where he had 2 blocks, and got pancaked for his trouble. Had he forced him to the inside, a host of defenders were in position to make the tackle.
