ACC vs SEC

In the Official Saturday Game Thread it was asked what Auburn’s record was vs the ACC (5-9 in the last 20 years). In the process of looking that up, I pulled some additional ACC vs SEC data.

In the last 20 years, the ACC is 80-101 vs the SEC. However, over the last 5 years the ACC is 28-26 vs the SEC.

In the last 20 years, the ACC is 19-28 vs SEC in bowl games. However, in the last ten years the ACC is 15-13 vs SEC in bowl games.

The top 5 or so teams in the SEC are definitely stronger than their ACC counterparts right now. After that, it's a bunch of mediocrity l. around.

Top 1 from each conference is pretty clearly Advantage ACC.

At least that was true 8 months ago.

I initiated with a google search of ‘ACC vs SEC football.’ The site I sighted is topdan.com, which has conference vs conference stats from 1998 to current for the power 5 conferences.
