After a couple of games it’s amazing to read some of the posts and comments on this board. I understand everyone has a right to voice their opinion, but dayum some of this stuff is priceless. It’s going to take some time to get the offense where the coaches want it to be. It’s not pretty a lot of the time, but I believe in time it will get there. After a couple of recruiting cycles I think we will see major improvement. Until then it’s just gonna take patience and defense. While our defense lacks high level talent, they are playing their asses off. The thing I enjoy watching the most is 11 people head hunting. The defensive staff is willing to gamble and blitz anyone from anywhere on the field. It’s been a while since we have seen this on The Flats.

Patience, patience, patience. Ok some of you go ahead and hammer me up.....lol

BTW........ did any of you see my fat arse brother John, refrigeratormover there today?

I saw him and his wife.

I liked today's offense much better than last weeks.

When I coached travel softball, we would work on stuff in games, much to the chagrin of some parents. My philosophy was that it won't ever work in a game when you need it if you only do it in practice.

This offense sort of looks that way to me right now.

Honestly, the only thing keeping our offense from thriving is our talent, particularly O-Line talent.

Our o-line is awful. They’re short, fat, and not designed for pass protection. Two classes we will be great. One class we will be fine. In 2021 at this time, we will have a serviceable line of freshman and sophomores. Bank on it.

If we have any more OL injuries, it will get ugly.
The players are clearly bigger but we lack an arm in the backfield and wr’s that can get open.
I love this team though! It is what it is.

This entire offense is a WIP and will be for a long time. People are just mad it doesn’t look less like the TO right now as if the offense wasn’t tooled for the TO for the last decade. Our QB completed 67% of his passes today. Sure it was 14 completions for 75 yards but that’s the kind of pass performance that got people saying Justin Thomas was gonna be a GT hall of famer. We also have a young RB that got his first 100 yard day in the new scheme at 5 yards per carry. All this a week after a performance against Clemson that bested most (or all) of CPJ’s since Clemson’s rise. People need to relax and accept this retooling process will take a long time.

2019 GT = 1995 GT

Complete rebuild. Look for positive signs/glimpses of talent.

The positives I see are recruiting at a high level and The Defense. Vast improvement from the last regime!

P.S. I loved CPJ.

In my dreams I have Collins as head coach on the recruiting trail, Thacker as DC with current defensive staff, and CPJ as offensive coordinator with his extra time free from head coaching responsibilities to implement his run and shoot principals. How frustrating is it that for years all we’ve wanted is a decent D. Now, all we need is a decent O. I have faith that recruiting will get us there.

To me, this is the biggest overhaul. We didn’t recruit body types on the line for long arms and athletic tuck, two things very important for pass pro. Only time can fix this.

That was not a Justin Thomas type performance.
Last week's performance did not best our previous performances against Clemson.

I tend to agree with the theme of your post; stop trying to over sell it. I appreciate the retooling process; but that doesn't mean we have to like everything we saw.

I’m talking specifically about the pass game, though Thomas likely would have tacked on 100 yards running as well. Regarding last week, this was already covered - feel free to check the stats. 088 already broke it down if you’d rather find it that way.

This.

Coaching would help.
BS. One thing that should be obvious already is that this team has received more defensive coaching in 2 games than they did the entire tenure during CPJ. Our defense actually plays aggressive and, for the most part, disciplined defense.

And offensively, at least we're disciplined. We've had very few penalties on either side of the ball and that is a direct reflection of coaching.

And let's not forget that this team under Collins got a win vs USF. We did not accomplish that last year under CPJ.

I agree, although I think we are better now than we were at any time last year
