Because we all knew that one day we would scrap his offense and have to rebuild. From scratch. With undersized players that only know how to run.

Citadel is a worst case scenario loss. Did anyone seriously think we would win more than 2 or 3 this year?

That said, we still should have been able to recruit most any HS QB from SOMEWHERE that wanted to be an Engineer that can throw a ball. But that is about the only thing I can gripe about here.

Also I think if Oliver is in the whole game and we keep running, we win.

Everybody is as sick as I am about this, but that doesn’t change the inevitability of what we were going to have to face eventually if we wanted to be back in modern offensive style.

Tired of hearing the “rebuild” bull****.

This defense is fine. Played great against Clemson and USF.

Our offense can move the ball if they would allow the best players on the field.

This loss is 100% coaching and these guys better get their öööö in gear pronto.
 
No, it wasn't at all set in motion when CPJ was hired. We just lost to a FCS team that was 0-2 with losses to Towson and Elon. We didn't just lose on some öööö scenario like having our third string QB in due to injuries and playing well but them getting lucky or things like that. No, we lost because we got out coached in every aspect of the game. Because we used a roulette wheel to determine which QB we put in for any given down, and also for which play we should run. Because we put our second string kicker in who has a history of missing kicks. We ran short yardage plays like a 4th and 1 from 7 yards behind the line of scrimmage. We played with no discipline, but worse than that, we played like we were "The U" and handed the other team free yardage and first downs at critical points in the game. We lacked a basic understanding of the rules that wasted clock in the last possession and ultimately erased the game-winning touchdown because the head coach did not know the rules for the game he is in charge of running for our team. We pulled players out of the game when they were doing well and replaced them with ones that had struggled the entire game. Nothing we did in terms of coaching was correct at all.

Quit repeating this myth. He quit because saw he couldn't compete in today's college football with the talent he was bringing in. We are in the process of ripping off the bandaid right now, and its gonna hurt for a while.

Correct. We might not have expected to lose to Citadel, but a 1 win season was entirely possible with this team not running the option.

And while we did score 21 points, let’s not forget our defense gave up 24. To hear everyone on this board, you’d think our D pitched a no hitter.

Agree. But losses like this can scare good recruits off.
It looks like a dumpster fire in the making.
