This was set in motion and predestined the very moment Paul Johnson was hired

Did you watch the game? Did you see the penalties, the 4th and short from shotgun, the inability to stop a FCS team?

Every sane person knew this year would be tough. But every sane person also knows this was a POS effort by a poorly coached team. öööö off with your “CPJ caused this” garbage.

I didn’t say CPJ caused it. These seasons are the nature of the beast when changing schemes. But his recruiting methodology certainly makes the hole deeper to dig out of.

And yes I did see the game. If you are one of these sane people, then shut the öööö up and just agree with the thread title and stop making qualifiers.

Bullshit. 3-9 being competitive in a few games with a new scheme while we transition vs 1-11 with our new inept Instagram queen influencer waffle eating douche bag coach is in over his head are two different things.

Yes whenever we made the change it was going to suck. But this level of suckage is due to the inept coaching.

I question aspects of the coaching as well, but we simply do NOT have the personnel on the field to achieve our objective right now. Collins is here to stay, and he can only work with what he has. I think play calling is the worst aspect, that can be corrected, specifically the swapping of QB and the short yardage shotgun scheme. But it will take time.

I have already said nobody expected a Citadel debacle, but the growing pains aren’t going away. For a couple years. Which brings me back to my main point. This was always going to happen.

The only reason we lost today was coaching, period. Say what you will about the players CGC inherited - regardless of recruiting stars they are far superior athletes to those one the other side of the line today. The fact the current regime couldn't figure out a way to even squeak out a win against the friggin' Citadel makes me seriously question their ability to tailor or tweak their game plan enough to beat a team with far less abilities. Maybe it was time for a change but I can't think of any other coach qualified enough to be considered for this job who would have made the same bonehead QB substitutions, managed the clock so poorly, or fielded such an undisciplined bunch of talent. Say what you will but with this very team CPJ would have hung 62 on this bunch today. Not hating on the team - this one is SQUARELY on Collins.

Yet he took his recruits and won 7 games last year with wins over UVA, VT, UNC and The U. Must be a helluva coach.
PJ was an excellent offensive coach and he recruited players who could succeed in his offense. He recruited QB's who could run well and make good reads. Passing was not as important. Justin Thomas was the best passer he recruited and JT was recruited by most schools as a DB. Those players do not necessarily fit our current offense, whatever it is. I do think PJ recruited too many backs and not enough OL's.

Put TO at QB and let him regain his high school passing form. That gets us to a bowl. But that would have required doing it starting halfway through the usf game.

Patenaude can pack his öööö and go. Swapping coordinators is a feature of the CGC experiment. If Stansbury can’t do that, he can go too.

Or someone can tell CGC that a 9 win season lands him big money and the Tennessee job. Then things will improve.

No, Vad was the best passer CPJ recruited. And it wasn’t close. Vad was just a terrible option QB.

After that, probably Johnson or Graham. JT5 wasn’t a great passer. He was a great athlete and a good option QB. JT5 had better receivers in Smelter and Waller than anybody we have now.

Yes but we still had more talent on the field than the Citadel. What Paul Johnson didn't have was the juice crew on the sideline acting like fools, defensive players with a total lack of discipline giving the opposition first downs after making a "Money Down" (BS) stop with dead ball penalties or screwing with a kicker that was 9 for 9 on field goals by benching him only to watch his replacement screw the pooch. Against Clemson, CGC called time out right before we ran a sneak to convert on a 4th down then today he does the same thing costing us the winning score.

What I am seeing reminds me of a hire we made several years ago when we hired the head coach from East Carolina. His resume consisted of one good year. All we got was hype and we have plenty of that now.

I may owe Paul Hewitt an apology. And Patrick Nix.

We’ll be fine. South Carolina has lost to the Citadel TWICE in their history.

Paul Johnson doesn’t quit at anything, not even ping ping, _______ that he is.
