Our kicker situation

King missed the practice kick he got when Citadel called a time out. I'm almost certain he missed the game tying kick from my perch on the north endzone. Then, he kicked a ööööing wounded duck to miss the ot kick.

But maybe he will have a good practice this week

King had never proven himself in a game situation. Never ever! Wells did several times. Collins f’d up.

I was first excited when I found out that the game would be on tv on a channel carried by Comcast, now not so much. But I did miss hearing about why Wells was not kicking this week again. Has that been explained? Must admit that we looked so bad that I only watched part of the game and probably won’t be watching much more. Really was one of the poorest coached games most of us have seen in the past 50 years. OC and HC could hardly have coached more poorly, I do see now why so many have little confidence in our coaches, at least for in-game and personnel decisions.

Haven’t heard too much about the DC but thought the Defense was supposed to be our better(or least bad) units but now it seems we have managed to screw up every phase of the game.

Really a pitiful showing but all units seemed to contribute equally to the s*** show. Let it sink in that Citadel had never beaten an ACC team until today, just wow.

Yes I am ranting, sorry.

@BrentwoodJacket King was not the one that missed the kick against Tennessee, he didn't play that game. That was Shawn Davis. Regardless, King is still not good.

Wells wasn't in because our coaches are morons, that is the only reason why.

I was in the stands early to watch warmups. Wells did not kick like he did last year before the game, and it really wasn't close. Don't know why but he didn't look like he had much power. Just before the team leaves for the locker room before the game, team lined up three times for about a 40 yard try with live snap and linemen there. Wells missed badly, then King missed just wide, then King made one.
Based on what I saw pregame, King had to kick.

The Citadel kicker at the half warmups missed just wide from 59, made from 59 and made from 61. That isn't a misprint, he kicked it from his own side of the 50. He could hit from 65 at least. Their coach blew it when he could have gone up 2 scores with less than 10 min and they were at the 25 or so. He should have run it up the middle and kicked. Instead thrown for a loss and put it on the hash - missed wide from long range. To his credit, he didn't make that mistake again in the last 2 minutes or OT.

an XP? Yes
Harrison Butker missed 2 XP while at Tech.

I watched enough of Brenton King and Wesley Wells last year to know what to do. Unless Wells had a mental breakdown in the offseason, he should be the kicker until he loses the position.

Actually the kicker situation is the most telling (similar to the QB thing but more pronounced). There is something fundamentally wrong in Mudville if Wesley Wells has two legs and he's not doing all the kicking (sides punting). Is Wesley on drugs? Why is Wesley on drugs? Why is Wesley on the team if he's on drugs? Why is Geoff Collins insisting on playing Brenton King (who is awful) over Wesley if there's not something wrong with Wesley? Follow the dots.
