We did lose quite a few. We are among the youngest teams in all of college football this year and the few seniors we have are learning a new system.
Wait, which is it? Is the problem that all our players only know how to play the triple option, or that they're all new in general? I'm losing track of the excuses for our öööö coaching staff...

WE ARE ALAFREAKINGBAMA EVERYONE!!!

In all seriousness, I do consider that and hope we are on the same trajectory. It’s obvious we are going to need absolute five star elite players in order to line up with the citadels of thr world
No we're not Bama. Haven't been for 60 years. That's why, to Bama, ULM = The Citadel

I was also there for Furman 1983 and 1986. I knew guys on that Furman squad - that was a great team.

This is much worse. This loss is a failure of the coaching staff to prepare our team and to prepare a competent game plan.[/QUOTE

Burdell, that Furman team was a good team I agree, but I also believe we should have won. I could be very wrong but I think they are preparing best they can with what they have. If we run it 70 times as suggested maybe we win, maybe we don’t.

This is a new system, new coach, new everything. IMO, our roster does not fit what this staff wants to accomplish. If it was me I would pick one qb and go with him. This back and forth series does not lend itself to success. I’m not saying we don’t have quality players because we do have a few, but we have VERY few. No, I’m not saying Citadel was better than us or have more talent, but what I am saying is we don’t have the talent, roster wide, to go out and easily win these type of games. I do think this staff can recruit and that will pay dividends in the future, but it’s going to take time. I think we can win 5 or 6 more this year, but we could also go winless.

To clarify, I’m not in “burn it all down” mode but I think Patenaude has worn out his welcome. It’s not lost on me that we don’t have the players to fit what we are trying to do but to look as inept as we have for the past 3 games and to have lost to an FCS team that was 0-2 coming into the game is inexcusable. We could have just run the ball 70 times and won but we kept getting cute.
But could we have? I'm not so sure.

not unless Memphis State has to go back and forfeit their win against us in 1981.

We beat #2 Alabama to open, lost to what would be 1-10 Memphis St by 13 at home 2 weeks later, ended 1-10.
Either way you look at this, we are arguing over where this ranks amongst our worst losses in history, and it’s inside the top 3. Total bullshit crap football caused by a coach who cares more about hugging and fun than he does about football

Oh, by the way, I sat behind Mover’s sister-in-law today if I got the relationship correct. She was nice.

Bullshit. He had a terrible offensive game plan and a defensive plan that played into the qb keeper on the option. Also, we need a kicker.

Going into this game we knew two of those things. If we were going to look this bad on O, we should have gone full on air raid or Briles style offense.

There is no way in hell I’ll ever agree that we don’t have the talent to beat the citadel. That is a bullshit excuse. This is squarely on the coaches doing an absolutely pisspoor job.

Last years coach would have won this game with this talent.
