I am with the OP. Recruiting is the only thing that really matters at present, as much as I would prefer to see us win. We can pony up and hire a real OC as soon as next year when we will finally have a prostyle QB, WRs and TEs on campus.

What is weird is that this was one of the great things about CFB before the CFP was instituted. An awful lot of teams had great ends to the year because they would beat their rival and then win a bowl game. And then several teams would be major conference champions and that was a really big deal. And maybe even 4-5 teams could make a plausible claim to being the best in the nation.

But now it's like basketball – does anybody really care who wins the ACC tourney any more? The only thing that matters is winning the national championship, and everybody else ends the season with a loss. It's harder to have a good season that doesn't leave a bad taste in your mouth.

CFP was a gigantic mistake. There have been some positive changes to make it more palatable. Thankfully, expanding it to more teams seems untenable.

There is nothing keeping you from leaving and cheering for another team. If you want to be a bitch and cheer for someone else, please do so. It'll be better for the rest of us.

With the emergence of basically super teams the playoffs are only for about 8 teams. I said at the time they created the 4 team playoff that it wouldn’t take long to expand. I still believe expanding the playoffs is the clear path forward. No one cares about bowl games anymore and the playoffs are money machines. Expanding to 16 or 32 teams will keep interest going for more than 8 teams in November. I know many of you are laughing at an expanded playoff but it’s going to happen. I remember when they created the BCS everyone laughed at me when I said it’s a slippery money slope. Sure enough they expanded. I give it another 4-5 years of bowl game attendance failures and enough of the big boys getting left out for it to expand to 8. Then it’s just a matter of a system for a 16 team playoff, then 32.
