According to you, yesterday was the only chance your dad has to coach against equal level talent for the year. His OL still got their öööö pushed in. He also couldn't develop an effective running game plan against said same talent.

So, you really think we have less talent than the Citadel?
I think their roster is better suited to what they are doing. Like it or not, we made a decision to rip the bandaid off of 10 years of option football. The staff made a decision that was the best option - rather than phasing it out at the cost of recruiting. That’s where we are. Our current roster is ill suited for anything but ankle diving. They certainly aren’t manning up and beating people at point of attack....even The Citadel. In fact, it’s exactly what the last few Johnson years were - terrible support play and being saved by individual performance. We just didn’t get saved yesterday.

A chance? Look, when we got ass blasted by Clemson, sure. The staff gets a chance after losing to the best team in the country, no doubt. Barely beating UCF, yup, absolutely. Hell even if we put up a goose egg in ACC play, they'd all get a chance. It's a rebuilding year, there weren't many expectations coming into this season.

Losing to the ööööing citadel is another thing entirely. The magnitude of this öööö up can't be overstated. It just can't.
When did we play UCF

I missed CPJ right after the ut game the most.

I missed him not recruiting like a major conference coach. I missed him not giving a crap about D then firing every DC he had after too short a time to deflect blame from himself. I missed him not doing something about a slob OL coach and almost every game complaining about missed OL assignments.

I missed him not caring about the entire team and just focusing on proving his O could gain yards regardless of winning or losing the game.

No. Unlike some of you, I'm not so myopic as to forget that he's the one who recruited most of these players we have right now.
Then it is clear at this point who is better at coaching this level of talent, eh?

To those who support CPJ till the end, this post isn't for you.

For the rest of you, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABABAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.......

*INHALE*

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You got exactly what you asked for. And in 5 years when they have their players and are going 6-6 and playing in Shreveport, I hope you remember this post.
In 5 years, if we have a roster full of 1 and 2 star players, then I'll agree with you. Meanwhile, why don't you go be a dawg fan for 5 years until we find out?

That’s not a valid argument. Sure Paul was a better option coach. But Paul has also proven through severely diminishing returns that option ball at this level fails over time. We were getting worse, our recruiting was getting worse, and it was time to move to something else.

Oh I have no doubt that Paul Johnson is better at coaching up 2 stars. Do you also acknowledge that Paul Johnson is responsible for having almost all 1- and 2-star players on the team? If not, shhhhhh...you're wrong.
I don’t think our roster is “almost all 1 and 2 star players” and I’m sure you don’t either, since you are quite knowledgeable regarding evaluating athletic talent. We have mostly 3 star players and probably a few 4 star caliber players on defense. We all know that our guys ratings were deflated after committing to GT just like other players ratings were inflated when receiving offers from Bama and the like.

Which O linemen who played yesterday would crack the two deep at another P5 school. Name them and where you think they would play.

I didn’t see diminishing returns at all. We struggled to find the right defensive formula, but recruited some really strong DBs. On offense, we lost more stud running backs due to off-field crap than most teams ever have, yet still put up big numbers. 2015 was an injury-laden aberration and the past 2 years we struggled with not having the right fit at QB. Nothing that Jordan Yates wouldn’t have fixed going forward.

Apparently one of the guys we would’ve had if CPJ had stayed starts for Texas. Otherwise, we don’t recruit the type of OL that other schools do because we don’t use them in the same way. You know that.

CU, ugag, bama, Auburn, uvag, LSU, osu and quite a few actually.
You are naming teams with much more talent on the squad than the teams they play. Put Alabama vs Clemson in 3rd and 1 and going shotgun is a stupid call.

You could put UGAg in the damn punt formation against Arkansas State and run a play for a first down.

And, BTW, Alabama and UGAg both have short yardage plays from under center. In fact, UGAg runs plenty of plays from under center in their pro style offense
