Graham’s offer sheet was mostly to play a position other than QB. Regardless, he looks the most like a player who could have success in this offense to me. I personally would give him the keys and start evaluating/developing for next season.

LJ doesn’t have it and Tobias is just too limited. He’s more of a change of pace option than starter.
Exactly, teams eventually figure out how to stop TO, like in OT he got stuffed both plays, it’s not the longterm solution

The option doesn’t get ‘figured out’. There are adjustments and counters. I don’t think Patenaude has worked enough on the Oliver offense to have many counters.

We need to pick an offense and go with it.

Funny how two weeks ago it was Oliver that needs to be benched for the season and Johnson was the guy
After the Clemson game, it was Graham that was the designated QB and Oliver should not see another snap. Now Oliver is the one.

Gotta love Stingtalk.

Agreed with your first point. In this system there are a ton of plays oliver can run including better passing plays that are simpler based off a good run game and there has been zero of it. Its like he hasnt installed squat.

There is more crying about the transition than taking oliver and building a true playsheet around him. You only need around 40-50 plays. Thats not alot because many of those plays share similar concepts

Graham is the only one of the 3 who have seen the field who is good enough to play QB in a power 5 conference.

Don’t believe me? Look back at their offer sheets. Every other coach making millions of dollars can’t be wrong here. Not every single one of them.
Same thing goes for most of our OL. We are trotting out mostly FCS-recruited talent each week so getting FCS results shouldn't be too surprising. Doesn't excuse a Citadel loss but...It Is What It Is.

Not sure what PJ saw in LJ but it's pretty clear what every other P5 HC saw. Or didn't see.

Next season the starting QB needs to be someone who is not on campus now. The optimum solution would be a transfer with the freshman QB gaining experience. Oliver needs to be at WR (optimizing his NFL prospects).
I think the same holds true for our OL too. Tell any P5-specs HS Senior OL that you'll start in 2020. Gotta get some size and speed on the OL. Our current OL was recruited to ankle-dive and is too small. Getting owned by FCS-loser Citadel all day is all the proof anyone should need of that.

Graham is the only real QB we have, not counting Yates who will redshirt. Oliver would have won yesterday if he played the entire game at QB, but the only way we win another game is by having a semblance of a passing game. That is why Graham is our only option. I’m sure Oliver will be the starter now, and we’ll look better due to his running ability but we aren’t beating anyone else without passing. Heck, we passed better with the “chuck it and pray” method under the TO. I’d put Graham in at QB and Tobias in the Wes Walker role. But please do not waste Griffin or Yates this year.

Yates can still play in four games and redshirt. He was a four star on rivals. Give him a shot.

LJ needs to be a wr or d back.

I’d prefer to see a talented freshman come in and win the job. Take some lumps, grow with offense and get back to a bowl in 2021.

Elcid buzzing fan is a tool.

Yates is the guy after graham and Tobias.

He’s with LJ riding the pine

And outside of Rankins, the other five OL commits have recruiting ranks and offer sheets that are identical to Paul Johnson OL recruits.
At least we will have some depth. We don’t even have 3 stars as backups. We are running out walk ons. Multiple walk ons. That is a roster management failure if there ever was one.

TO can pass, he needs to practice it more. Give him a few comeback routes. If Our WR can’t get separation with speed, then let them use their bodies.

Or get TO out of the qb rotation and make him a wr and ST specialist.

We really needed an OC who drilled fundamentals. We got a guy installing trick plays. We also should have had 3 guys who have 5000 shotgun snaps starting last January. That is hampering our O more than anything.

Haven’t seen enough of Graham to say if he’s part of the solution, but I’ve seen enough of Johnson to know he isn’t. I’d rather lose with Toby running the ball 50x than Lucas taking another sack.

Not to beat on the kid too much, but Christ Almighty, what tf did CPJ see in this kid to have him at #2 before the injury? We know he can’t pass. He doesn’t seem to be able to read a defense. He can’t run.

And the current coaches don’t seem to see it either.

I don’t get it.

I also believed, and posted, that I believed Oliver would be the clear #1 this year. But he can’t pass. I made the false assumption that he would spend the off season practicing, as you suggest he needs. But clearly that didn’t happen cause he’s the same passer he was last year which is below average. I spent all spring and summer traveling to high school after high school due to summer baseball. What I saw every day were players on the football field practicing in groups of 3-4. I saw RB’s running stadium steps, I saw QBs and WRs running routes and throwing. Rarely did I see an adult present, surely due to rules. If I’m a QB I’d spend at minimum several hours a week with WRs on a field having fun. And I assume our guys have access to fields an6 time they want. I was very disappointed to see Oliver’s lack of improvement this year.

Maybe he does really well in practice then loses it in games? Idk
