This was set in motion and predestined the very moment Paul Johnson was hired

This is what’s called a “self-fulfilling prophecy.”

We replaced a very competent coach with an unproven head coach. But the unproven coach does things the way football minds want them done (see: George McPhee’s quote about hockey fans knowing the game to get sense of the arrogance these football minds have) so the excuses will come early and often. The heretic has been deposed and now the true repentance can happen.

When you build in an excuse for your failure you tend to fail.
We replaced a coach who quit.

PJ literally put a starting tight end into the league

Yesterday was obviously winnable. The only people that think we have zero talent are CPJ haters with axes to grind.
PJ didn’t put Darren in the league. Darren put himself there and would have made it regardless of what college team he played for.

The most arrogant minds on this board never played a down for Tech, and to my best knowledge, neither have you.

It's obvious why no other P5 HC offered Lucas Johnson a scholly. PJ may be the worst recruiter in the history of our program.
IMO, Lucas Johnson never starts or plays anything but blowout minutes for Paul. He is not athletic enough to run Johnson system and would have been way behind Oliver and Graham.

The difference is - we were correct way back then, as seen being born out before our very eyes. Our O line sucked yesterday when going toe to toe against FCS. And it will continue to suck all year going against FBS. We do not have a QB that can throw. About the best we CAN do due to injury is give it to Oliver and see what his legs can do. Our receivers suck, and the Defense sucks like it always has. The only thing we actually have going for us right now is a punter.

With PJ and the option, we win yesterday. But the coaching and offensive scheme has already changed. That train has already left the station. Collins and players aren’t practicing that offense well enough to make it the centerpiece, and the whole point of Collins over the Monkens of the world was to install the Pro or whatever variation. Our objective now is to move on with the Collins offense. That is the end goal anyway. Being one dimensional in the running is where we are now, because passing is nonexistent. I state again, this day was always going to come.

It might have been a self-fulfilling prophecy. But that doesn’t negate the factual state of the program. We knew it was going to be like this. I figured 3 wins at best because I hoped we would have some sort of ability to throw the ball even poorly. We aren’t even at that level.

I guess you told me.
The shoe fits. Your response was sophomoric because I have not been whining, but you accuse me of doing so for whatever reason.

I have been simply pointing out that everyone should stop losing their minds because this is what we all suspected was going to be the state of the program at this point.

Waller literally played WR for us and literally never played a single down as a TE for us.
But we had TE bodies on the roster. They needed to bulk up in the off season. What we really need are guys with speed who can play WR.

The. I misunderstood because of all the background whining from everyone else. Mea culpa.

Nick Saban and Nick Savannah would struggle with taking over this team and trying to run anything but an option offense.

And before people go to whining about “well a good coach would run the option,” we intentionally left that because we were watching the program die on the vine with poor recruiting and diminishing results. I loved our first half of CPJ and the good seasons he had. But he was at Gailey level on the way out and was probably going to fall below Gailey in terms of win percentage had he stayed another 2-3 or 3-5 years.

agreed - very disappointing to see these guys not get separation against FCS CBs.

VPI appears to be a bad this year as last year. We might beat them even with LJ under center.
Yes, go ahead and redirect. Put over 60 points on the board with TO at QB against a bad Louisville team but still a team that was much better than yesterday's Citadel team that was 0-2 in FCS play.
