I lived in LR, AR when the Razorbacks lost a very similar type game (may have been to Citadel) after Kenny Hatfield left and went to Clemson when he did not have any players coming back to Fayetteville and Razorbacks were a mess for next few years, Danny Ford was hired as a consultant and later made HC and it took them several years to build that program back. It was one of the lowest points in modern Razorback history if I correctly remember what Razorback faithful were saying during that time. In case people don't remember, Kenny ran the flexbone, the story has similarities to ours in my mind. Danny Ford was a good recruiter and helped them get back on solid footing. Kenny inherited really good players from Lou Holtz, and was not a good recruiter himself and after running the program in the ground with bad recruiting, he left.

This is going to be the second time in the last year or so that I'm going to correct you on this.

Danny Ford didn't take over for Ken Hatfield. Ford took over from Jack Crowe, who coached for three years between Hatfield and Ford. Hatfield went 55-17 (.760) at Arkansas and he won with Holtz's guys as well as his own. Quit trying to pin your other team's ööööty years on an option guy. Your memory is wrong.

UGA beat us by 31 last year and it could have been 50 if they wanted it. They would probably be favored by 30+ in BDS if the game was today.

100% true. And we are not talented enough to play with our cupcakes.
At the first sign that they were gonna give us a fight, we should have scrapped whatever Pat's game plan was (looked like he wanted to use it as a practice) and just run Oliver and Mason out there. Escape with an ugly 7-10 point win and regroup. There would have still been bitching, but not to this level.

Actually I think we needed this loss. It better light the biggest frigggin Fire.
This isn't a bad take. Losing to the Citadel might motivate us to practice harder, and bring our overall ACC win total from zero to one. Even two, if we try super hard.

That’s not what Collins has sold though. He claims people are always motivated and with their practice regime of getting 9 million snaps per practice the O should be getting better and the D should have been able to sleep walk through that game.

So after 9 million reps, the guys still can’t do it.

We lost to the Citadel. We’re more talented than the Citadel. We are bigger, stronger, and faster. Tech literally has 20+ more scholarship athletes than them. The cupboard being bare will explain going 0-8 in the ACC and losing by 50 to UGA.

The cupboard bare excuse against the Citadel is a joke.

Explain how it’s a joke? You’re telling me that the team is unable to learn how to play a different style of football well enough to beat Citadel after having “9 million reps”?

Wonder what Coach Caralla thinks seeing his boys get whipped up and down the field on Saturday

By sheer team scholarship numbers, Tech has a full 2 deep more schalorahip athletes. Every last one of them is bigger, stronger, and faster than their counterpart. No matter how many times you want to claim that not to be true doesn’t make it so. I was there. It was blatantly obvious we were a head taller, thicker, and faster.

A billion reps with little or no time for on field instruction is nearly worthless. But hey, creating the next marketing campaign or designing the next hashtag is easier than actually putting in the work on the field as a coach.

I think you might be confused as to what actually happens during football practice. Perhaps you’re just confused on terminology?

I’m trying to understand exactly what you mean but it’s hard.

You may have said already and I missed it, but to what do you attribute the loss to the Citadel?

I understand the cupboard may be bare in regards to P5 competition this season, but how do you explain losing to a team that we outmatch physically at every position?

The only reasons I can imagine are lack of effort, lack of preparation, and/or poor coaching.

What did you see in the game and what are your thoughts?

That doesn’t sound any better. As a coach, you really have one ööööing job. Prepare your team to play the game - the team that trotted out there on Saturday wasn’t even fundamentally ready to play that game. What’s more, the coaches did not appear to have any kind of game plan.

Maybe it’s the nature of this ATL bullshit, but the optics make it appear as though our offensive coaches are just winging it. Then, at the half, there aren’t any real adjustments that I can see where coaches are responding to what they are seeing on the field. Our successes, what few there have been, appear to have come from the personnel on the field willing öööö to happen - guys like TO, Mason, and Camp - not from coaching leadership.

It’s a pathetic showing from the coaching. The players are working hard. They are buying into “the culture” or whatever. They are doing their jobs, which is to give 100% and listen to their coaches, the problem is the top coaching minds are out of their ööööing league.
