The best way to combat arrogance is with humility. I'm not expecting we're going to have a problem in this area going forward.
Maybe both the players and coaching staff should have a visit with Coach Lew.

I thought the stupidity was high on TOS, but per usual ST takes the cake.

Embarrassing loss and no excuse for it. We played counterintuitive to everything we preached

But we are really judging the staff off 3 games with QB who can’t throw and OLineman who can’t pass or even run block at moment. WE CURRENTLY HAVE AN NAIA OLineman PLAYING!!!! https://www.ajc.com/sports/college/...eam-possibly-starting/8SJazNA5DnqdaFoboP5jcL/

As for recruits, all they see is playing time and CGC/CBK history of sending guys to league
Collins is on a two game losing streak to FCS schools. He was at Temple long enough to have talent above and beyond and have “his” type of player, yet he still managed to lose.

There’s something incredibly rotten smelling about that fact.

I’ve asked this question before, but to what do you attribute the loss to the Citadel?

I understand the cupboard may be bare in regards to P5 competition this season, but how do you explain losing to a team that we outmatch physically at every position?

The only reasons I can imagine are lack of effort, lack of preparation, and/or poor coaching.

What did you see in the game and what are your thoughts?
I think the players didn't take the opponent serious. We are young on the DL so it was the one position that wasn't well versed in defending the option and we might have played too many young guys because they made a lot of mistakes. We lost our composure/head for about 10 minutes in the 2nd quarter and it killed us: extended drives, added plays and time possession, gave up field position. I think the penalty on 3rd down changed the whole game. If we get the ball and go up 13-7 and take that into the locker room, then I think we win.

The offense is not good. We could have/should have played Oliver every down but I'm sure the coaches thought we could throw the ball a little but the line can't pass block and Johnson doesn't do well against a rush.

Collins made a huge mistake not taking the TO at 23 seconds and getting everyone on the same page for the last 2 or 3 plays. I think Collins needs to take more chances on 4th down against an opponent like Citadel (I only remember 1 play but there could have been more where he really should go for it). Against other teams, punting might be the best option.

Honestly, with are current talent level on offense and the way a TO offense can control the ball, it was going to be a tough game. Even if we play our best, it is likely something like a 28-17 type game. It would have been a low possession game.

The kids are seeing this licking their chops. Do not be confused.
I beg to differ. Even a 17 year old can discern the difference between "you'll be playing for championships" and losing to a winless FCS program at home. Until today, Collins' forte was his honesty with the kids. Now the kids and the entire social media universe know the bloom is off the rose. The emperor has no clothes, and add a dozen cliches of your choosing. Saturday was a worst case scenario for an outfit that was trying to sell a wholesale restructuring the brand. As the embarrassing losses pile up this season, it will be difficult, maybe impossible, for this staff to re-establish their credibility.

You dont think Nesbitt fit CPJs system? Lol. If you are talking specically about Gardner-Webb, you are splitting hairs. We scored 10 points.

And how on earth did CGC have plenty of time to recruit a QB that late in the game? He didn't even have a staff until the early signing period was over. He struck out on grad transfers because no one wanted to use their last year of eligibility behind this O line.

Saturday's performance may have earned healthy skepticism, but ya'll are being unreasonable with these takes.
No I am not talking about Nesbitt, the poster stated that CPJ couldn't win without a QB that fit his system and then talked about CPJ winning without a QB that fit his system.

How on earth did CPJ have time to recruit Jaybo Shaw that late in the game? It isn't like Collins did not recruit anyone, so he should have got QB if the situation is really that desperate. Or pick up a graduate transfer, there happens to be a couple of transfers tearing up the NCAA right now btw.

In 1987, we only won two games. We beat Indiana State and the Citadel. Three years later we won a share of the MNC. I don’t think we are beyond redemption at all.

Ya, we wasted 3 months recruiting yet another running back on top of a roster which already had 11, instead of recruiting any more OL and DL. So, suddenly, we’re just just supposed to allow CGC to use the lack of bodies as an excuse.

Facts? Lol where?

2 yrs is long enough? It takes 4 yrs to get a full recruiting cycle

You do realize CGC first 2 season is the best first 2 seasons in Temple history?

Don't bother with ElCid. His idiocy is beyond hopeless. Mindless and emotional.

What’s different from now and then:

Early signing period- 85% of players sign in December. CPJ had an additional 2 months to get a QB. Also, you don’t sign people just to say you signed them.

Other factors
Competition- we were competing with AIR force & MTSU. Jaybo took his best offer and ran with it.

Mutual Interest: I can’t just go get a Qb. A QB has to WANT to be here as well

Pretty worthless when your biggest need is lineman.

I thought we didn’t have any talent on this roster? Cause that oh so most talented RB ever!!!!!!!! has 2 carries in 3 games for 1 yard.

That's a hell of a way to spin that Geoff took a team that won 10 games in each of the two preceding years and then won 7 and 8 games is his two years.
And lost 4 players to the NFL draft. Please tell me what happened to GT in 2010 and 2015 when we 4 NFL draftees?

Bobby Ross was a proven big league football coach that was not blowing smoke up everyone's ass 24/7. That's the difference--Ross went to work with a plan--a football plan. Ross also had a staff that included George O'Leary and Ralph Friedgen. No comparison to our current coordinators. I'll go way out on a limb and predict we will not be playing for the national championship in three years.

Jaybo Shaw? Really? Yes, I am sure CGC could have gotten a QB with Air Force and MTSU offers. That would have helped us how? We already have 2 of those.

We tried for several transfers: wimbush, Fields, Hurts, Ben Hicks, Starkel, probably more. They didnt want to come to a team that was built to run option.

CGC did well to sign Yates, but he just isn't ready yet.

Your scenarios are unrealistic, revealing you never intended to give this coach a chance.

Sidewalk fans are great. CPJ fans who want to tear it all down after he’s gone suck ass and we don’t need them.
