This is kinda my feeling as well. I think our QB of the future, as in beyond this year, has either yet to play (Yates) or is still in high school (Gleason).
I think the QB competition next year, barring any transfers or additional recruits coming in, is Gleason, Yates and possibly Graham (due to his arm talent and athleticism). I am not yet seeing it with Lucas and I don't think the staff wants Oliver at QB long term, which is why they are so reluctant to just hand him the reins.

He realizes it. He wants a starting QB, he just doesn't feel that he has one, so he is staying on brand with the ATL thing. He may never "name" a starter, but it will be obvious when we have one.
Agreed. To me, it seems like a way to stay consistent with the rest of the team while also getting buy in from the 3QBs, because we need them right now and next year potentially.

We'll be in Gleason or bust territory next year. Yates isn't the answer, as far as rectifying our arm talent at QB goes.

Whatever is done, keep Oliver on the field and use that speed/run talent to disrupt/construct/open-up something from a mix of positions.

Glad he was pissed and thankful he didn't throw players under the bus.
Saying things like:

(1) this is the biggest rebuild in the history of college football (reminded me of Trump)

(2) I told the guys in there why we lost, but that stays in the locker room

(3) a good carpenter never blames his tools, so I’ll keep quiet on why we are losing (what Coach Key said to the touchdown club)

Is throwing your players under the bus.

I agreed with that in the past. I don’t think Yates is as good as some (fans of the old regime) have made him out.

We don’t know how good he actually he is now that he’s in the program.
I’ll give him a shot even though I’m not particularly moved by his HS film.

This is true.

I’m glad the players all but admitted they were to blame in their post game conferences.

Given the state of the offensive line he needs to start Oliver and live with his passing ability. Johnson seems to go down as soon as he is pressured which means his passing ability is negated. Oliver can stay on his feet long enough to get the pass off.

Well if our best QB is still in high school it is gonna be a helluva year.

The big mistake to me was not going with Oliver in OT. Oliver had just led the team down the field at the end of reg.
I'm probably mistaken here, as my mind has already erased much of the game for self-preservation, but wasn't Oliver in for the first two snaps of OT (and then we switched to LJ on the 3rd and long)? Still didn't like going away from Oliver on 3rd, but I believe he was given the reigns to begin OT.

I didn’t like the keep it in the locker room answer from Collins.

No, he shouldn’t call out individuals or name people. He should however give the public and fans a sense of what he think went wrong. I recognize that can be a razor thin line to navigate in college sports. I just think he doesn’t have the cred as a first year coach along with producing a program historic öööö fest to leave it at that.

We needed to hear more than -“Nanny nanny boo-boo. I know something you don’t know.”

By not naming a starter when you have bad QB’s you don’t risk losing the locker room when a frosh comes in and looks really good. You don’t build a sense of entitlement that frankly was one of CPJ’s faults when it came to roster management.
