What does height have to do with anything? Kyler Murray, Drew Brees, Baker Mayfield, Russel Wilson and others have dispelled that myth. If the kid can play, he can play.
I guess you missed the part where I clearly wrote equal talent

If we could find an academic qualifier that is 6-3 230lbs like a Justin Fields for example, why accept a 5-11 guy that might have equal talent but be less durable

Why are GT Fans so quick to accept that the undersized Recruit or the Recruit that is 1 step slow is the best that we can ever hope for?

Watson
Fromm
Fields
Trevor Lawrence

All Academic Qualifiers for GT and we failed to get any of them, that is the damage that the previous system did to GT FB long term, now we have to dig our way out and change how we are perceived among GA HS Recruits

Once upon a time the Top2 QBs in this State were Charlie Ward & Shawn Jones (both won Nattys BTW)

We got one of them, and rest they say is history

With an "offensive genius" as our HC for 11 straight yrs were we ever in play for a Top2 in-state HS QB coming out of GA?

Hard to believe top QBs in this State didn't respond to offensive geniuses for 11 straight yrs

Nobody is saying we should turn away tall QBs, but you're pretty dumb if you think we should ONLY recruit them. Our best two QBs in nearly 30 years were Joe Hamilton and Justin Thomas. Neither is even close to 6 feet tall. Hell, Shawn Jones and Josh Nesbitt are only 6'1.

Based on arm talent and accuracy among other things, we haven't been recrootin guys like Brees, Kyler, or Baker

Here in GA you can find guys 6-2 & up that can sling it all over the yard

Nick Saban has a size, strength, speed profile for each position on the field

According to Saban if the talent is EQUAL big talented players beat small talented players the majority of the time

I guess you forget that JT was the QB when we went 3-9

Jordan Yates needs to be redshirted while GT takes it's lumps with their current quarterbacks

Your comp is the ööööing consensus #1 QB recruit in the country, ahead of Trevor Lawrence, who decided to go to a perennial top 5 program Ohio State? Sorry bro, but I had to quit reading after that. I feel quite confident that if CGC could have gotten Fields to come start for us this season, then he would have found a ship...

Again, clueless. CGC hasn’t even gone through one full recruiting cycle. Most of the top QBs were already committed by the time CGC was named coach. Yates very well could be an excellent QB by the time he graduates. Under no circumstances was CGC in a position to turn away our 4 star QB recruit because he wasn’t 6’2” or taller... just dumb commentary all the way around.

This entire team is CPJ’s team, being coached by Geoff and crew. I am not going to judge him based on the players/talent I see for at least 2-3 seasons.

I will very much judge CGC for his team appearing unprepared, not playing hard, not knowing assignments, bad penalties/discipline, poor clock management at ends of games/halves, etc... Many of which occurred in the Citadel game.

We need to raise our expectations and start to identify Uber talented Qualifiers and go after them with everything we have

We might not have an army of bagmen but we do have a lot of high ranking Execs that can strategically promote the Parent of an elite Recruit, especially if the school or the GTAA threw some business in that company's direction

What?

You guys don't think Dook signs all those great MBB Players cause of their Academic Rankings

I'm amazed that GT hasn't learned how to cheat smart and get away with it

If all that is true then AD had no reason to give him a 7yr deal and tell the Sports Media that we would honor all verbal commits

I saw Yates play in HS multiple times, he doesn't have 4* arm talent

His arm talent screams G5 instead of P5

The highlights chosen for this video have plenty enough zip on them to be successful in the ACC...especially with those wheels.
Wheels irrelevant... We never want to have the QB run again. Have to sacrifice this year for the good of our imaginary future.

Speaking of Dook, no reason why we can’t also get a Daniel Jones type to come here

GT will almost always need a QB with wheels to be successful. Just like Bama has been doing (Hurts then Tua). And Clemson (Tajh Boyd and Deshaun Watson).

A dual threat QB at the college level is a must unless you stumble upon the next Joe Montana.

It's time to take the shirt off and get this kid use to the game competition! He is the best QB based on film. A bonafide playmaker who won the Ga state championship at the highest level.

If Yates truly wins the job he will be playing the last few games of the season behind a hopefully healthier o line

It you have walkons on your OL, you run block. Especially if you have a size advantage. Hat on hat and hold the block. Let the qb/rb find the gap.
I'm really tired of people posting this, like it's some magical unicorn to fix the system. NO...you don't just run block. Otherwise, people do like Clemson did and they put 8 or 9 into the box and it won't matter how well you 'hold your block' because there will be more hats than there are people to block them.

At some point, you have to just hold your nose and take your medicine. For 11 years we 'run blocked' and didn't pass block. If we spend the entire year this year 'just run blocking', then next year they're going to have to...guess what? They're going to have to learn to pass block as well. And QB's are going to have to learn to pass and read defenses. Might as well go ahead and bite the bullet and learn it this year when there are no reasonable expectations for success. Get the learning process going for linemen, QB's, WR's and RB's because the experience gained may well be more valuable than the the wins/losses racked up doing it.

I don't want Jordan Yates to blow a year during this horrible season. I would rather have him starting four years at Georgia Tech starting in 2020!

I see the point you're trying to make and I'm not arguing the size thing. But I'm pretty sure George Godsey would have been my pick for 2nd best QB over Justin Thomas. Godsey will forever be one of the best Tech QB's, if for no other reason than the # of consecutive wins over the mutts, coupled with his taunting them on national television by holding up the 3 fingers to show '3 times in a row, bitches'!
