The triple option would have easily been a talent equalizer today and anyone that doesn't understand that is an idiot
Being a Talent equalizer today is a pyrrhic victory

The Tripl-Oh is WHY we have lost ground vs Pitt, Dook, Clemson, UGA, UVa and other teams on our Sked

Being satisfied with 7-5 while beating 2 cupcakes, then getting boat raced by a 9th Seed Big10 team is NOT where GT FB wanted to be long term

That is where your hero had us going

Unfortunately we're taking an ugly step back before we can go forward

What year?

Cause the yr that everyone brags about Dook & UNC stopped us cold and the Refs blew a call vs GA Southern that we benefitted from

We've always walked a fine line under CPJ, but the fanboys were so blinded by their hero that they never paid attention

As far as going for 4th down from the Gun, last yr vs Dook they stopped us 4 times on 4& short and we were under Center each time, but since the fanboyz remember the mythology of PJ rather than the REALITY of PJ no one ever mentions it
Duke and UNC did not stop the offense in 2014. We scored 43 against UNC. The problem was the defense couldn't stop their QB. We would have won the game had we not scored so fast on our last drive and given them the ball back. Give credit where it's due for the past success. I agree it was time to move on but CPJ gave us some great wins and really fun seasons.

What level of laziness do you have to reach to spell schedule Sked?

I think you can now see what a hell of a coach CPJ was. Recruiting issues aside, we had very similar players to this year’s team on multiple occasions and never, ever looked anywhere close to this bad or incompetent. We scored 2 points against a G5 opponent. 2.
Had PJ not quit on these players he would have come back to a team with a weak incoming Recrootin Class, too many a-backs, not enough LINEMEN, and 15 LESS STARTERS from the squad that got boat raced by Minnesota

For all we know PJ would've gone 1-3 so far with a fumbling, non passing Oliver at QB, maybe he lucks into 2-2, with this poor OL & DL and no passing threat ,no way is CPJ 3-1

To quote Bill Parcells, "let's hold off on the annointing oils"

This is absolutely false. I’m not making comparisons to GC, but PJ needed one or two really good OL and we were damn near unstoppable
And because of having to recruit so many a, b, athlete, QB players, and his inability to get those one or two later on (which also led to not being able to recruit better D players because of the system) we are where we are roster wise.

And we are going to be forced to play 3 or 4 OL that are not ready due to injuries now.

And CPJ saw what was happening and to resolve it - he quit.

So often times we were unstoppable- just like our opponents due to the inability to recruit and run a D.

Or Justin Thomas or John Nesbitt. Otherwise we were exceedingly mediocre or even bad.

And guess what - we don’t have one or two really good OL on this team nor do we have JT or the Beast.

The 3o was all smoke and mirrors. Literally everyone here knew it at the time and even reveled in it.

The blubbering from the anti-PJ crowd is hilarious. Almost worth watching the losses being able to hand out so many big cries.

I don’t understand the chest beating about our offense scoring points on unc and Duke that year. Most everyone scored points on them. ECU put up 70 on unc, Rutgers 40 and Miami 47. So we weren’t on offensive genius territory by putting up 43 in a losing effort.

The blubbering from the Paul Acolytes who think he has nothing to do with the current predicament is hilarious.
I’ve been on board with the current staff. Just wait the 6 to 8 years it takes you to find out the real problem isn’t PJ or GC.

I don’t have the defeatist attitude that Tech cannot field a team and line up against anyone else. I think we can. We won a NC more recently than our factory to the east for God’s sake. It can be done, but a lot of it is a wholesale attitude adjustment. A lot of the option crowd had that defeatist attitude and felt that the 3O was our little kick in the nuts to everyone else that kept us at the edge of the college football radar.

What is the "real" problem? GT hasn't been this bad in 40 years. Someone gonna tell me it's harder to recruit to Ga Tech than to the military college of South Carolina?

I agree – but how can you blame CPJ for this situation? The idea that we're being "out-talented" or "out-athleted" by these second tier schools is ludicrous. Neither Citadel nor Temple have anywhere near the athletes that we have. Yet they knew where to block and where to run and where to throw the ball. Obviously we shouldn't be talking about firing a brand new coach that is bringing a lot of great ideas and energy to the program. But these losses are 100% on CGC and staff.

The real problem is that we have an administration and alumni base full of a bunch of really smart but bitter and defensive people. We have one of the best schools in the country, with a rich football tradition, and right smack in the middle of the biggest city in the center of the current college football world. Rather than bitching about all of the things we don’t have, which seems to be the Tech mentality, we should be crowing about what we do have and selling it.
