Stop Blaming the Previous Coach

And yet somehow set a bunch of offensive records and won a NY6 bowl. Amazing!

That NY6 game was the equivalent of a Gator Bowl from 25 yrs ago

GT was a Conference runner up playing a Miss State team that had 3 losses that was LESS THAN a Conference runner-up

Using charged language like Orange Bowl or NY6 Bowl doesn't give accurate perspective to what that game really was

The first OB was legit, we were ACC Champs playing a 1 loss Big10 runner up

Please stop over stating what CPJ really was at GT, a guy that got fat off of Cupcakes and avgd about 25 points per game vs FBS competition while winning at a lesser % than Chan did

Higher highs, but much LOWER LOWS, multiple LOSING seasons, broke the bowl streak etc, loss to the WEAKEST UGA teams in recent memory, etc

Don't push the guy towards Sainthood now that he's gone

Also, if you want to talk about Georgia...you don’t think their success has anything to do with us tanking in recruiting? We didn’t even come close to competing with them during the off-season.

I agree with this, as well as Clemson et al to a degree.

PJ lost 4 out of his last 5 to Duke. I think we can all agree that Georgia Tech should be a better football program than Duke. Pj wasn’t getting it done. It was time to move on.
Duke will probably be favored by 2 TD against us this season. We will see what kind of record Collins has against Duke after a few years.

He is not a first round pick.

Dood likely won't be drafted at all

OG is a lower value NFL position, many teams draft OTs and then if they can't hack it move them inside to OG

Guards that get drafted are elite and even the elite OGs can fall to the 2nd or 3rd Round

Shaq was 100X the player this guy is and he was drafted in the 4th round

Lol at your assertion of me using “charged language” while you go cherry pick bullshit to try to reinforce whatever nonsense you are trying to peddle here. Nonsense that has nothing to do with my statement that it sure must have been a feat of coaching to beat anyone without ever having an OL which was the original statement that I found to be disingenuous.

I have some news that might surprise you. Losing to a team a few times doesn't mean they passed us. We beat UGA 2 out of 3 times from 2014 to 2016. At any point did you feel like we had become a better problem than them?

But I agree and even said so in the post that you apparently didn't read. It was time to move on because things had stagnated. 11 years is a long time.

Dook was out Athlete-ing us, they were physically whipping PJ's undersized ankle divers and kneecap divers it had gotten to a breaking point

Last season Dook stopped us on several 4th & shorts by stalemating our OL like they were Clemson and we were some directional school

I'm very fair in my comments, I clearly explained why the first OB was legit, you strategically omitted that

WrecksNEffect: bowls are too easy to get to and the OB doesn’t mean öööö

also WrecksNEffect: OMG Paul broke the bowl streak

If I can’t blame Paul Johnson, how else can I justify the clown show currently coaching the team?

Forget the BLAME GAME

Ask yourself a simple question

Did CPJ leave the GT FB Program with the SAME talent level that it had when he accepted the job?

As long as he was our HC he was a good not great HC, now that he's gone he has to be judged on what SHAPE HE LEFT THE PROGRAM IN

Any honest GT Fan has to label PJ as a "Program destroyer"

That's the only fair and honest assessment, a guy can be a good HC while he's employed and when he leaves be characterized as a program destroyer

Those things are not mutually exclusive

We would be better off if he was an Ace Recruiter that left us on probation while being a mediocre HC

People need to get over themselves and support the program. Enjoy the ride, and appreciate progress towards the end destination...don’t get so fixated on the W-L in 2019. The program needs your support now more than ever.
I didn’t realize that accepting a crap coaching job and öööö losses was “supporting the program”. Thanks for letting me know that wanting to beat FCS schools was being a bad fan.

Take this öööö to the Hive.

Your posts aren’t very smart. Please stop.

CPJ recruited for a scheme that saw its heyday 20-30 years ago and isn’t well suited for any other form of offense. He left the roster without much on either line of scrimmage. He was able to recruit and leave behind decent OLB and DB talent, though. The roster makeup and lack of linemen will persist for a couple seasons. There’s no way around that, especially when the NCAA blocks all our transfers. The rest is on CGC: the poor play and coaching during the Citadel game, netting 300+ yards of offense without anything to show for it against Temple, etc.

Omitted? Was there some point of contention with what you said that I was supposed to take umbrage with?

You made up a bunch of nonsense about about why the second was not legit supposing that you know more than all the people involved in bowl selection and the final rankings that year. Cheers! You are truly a master of perception, nottomnotphilbutgcollins! Do you handicap for Vegas in your spare time?

Simple.

The emergence of the CFP adds 3 games to the TOP of the Bowl Sked, 2 Semis and 1 CG, this pushes DOWN the value of Games like the OB when it is NOT a part of the Championship Rotation

That's not nonsense, most CFB fans understand this simple logic

PJ's scheme was able to hide the lack of OL talent against the lesser turds on our schedule the past 2 years but could no longer hang with the Pitts and Dukes of the schedule. He completely ignored DL recruiting and we're seeing the effects when FCS teams and Temple are able to establish the LOS.

I said it'd take a while to get the stench of "It Is What It Is" out of the program. We'll see how long.

No. It plainly does not. A continuation of the games in a series format does not add to the original slate of available slots. The same number of teams get selected for the initial bowls.
