If you still think Patenaude should be employed

Patenaude didn’t turn it over in the red zone 3 times (int, fumb, on downs). Add 17 or 21 points and take away their scoop and score...then we may have had something. The game was closer than the score.
I don’t think we should be crucifying the staff just yet...but losing a game by 22 when you had the players to line up against the team is kind of the definition of ööööty coaching.

This is a good coaching staff. Brent Key coached

Good grief... he’s coached 4 games.
Why don’t we fire Brent Key too because our OL sucks? After all he’s never been successful...
Oh... I forgot he’s won NCs at Bama.
We aren't going to fire Brent Key, in fact I suspect he will be our OC by year 3 or 4. If CGC doesn't get the wheels back on the cart by year 4 he may supplant him too.

You guys thinking Brent Key is what made Bama successful have been duped though. Bama's OL was stacked when he got there, and is on it's way to the playoffs without him there. BK was only involved in 1 of Saban's 6 national championships. He did not win NCs at Bama, he won a NC at Bama; Bama's last one. Last year Key's OL unit got shredded by Brent Venables in the championship game; whether that had any influence on Saban not out bidding us for his services we may never know. Jeremy Pruitt also won a NC under Saban for what it is worth.

I've been trying to think of a derisive nickname for Paternaude. Any ideas?

Failed attempts:
Pater-dud
Pater no D necessary
Ted Roof of offense
Ape-natured (anagram)

I haven't been impressed with Patenaude so far, but I think it's worth comparing his first 4 games at Tech vs. the rest of his career as an OC and considering why there is such a disparity. He wasn't exactly beloved at Temple, but their offense scored 35 PPG. If he simply had no clue how to coach an offense to score points at all, you'd think that would have been evident prior to this season.

I don't think it's accurate to chalk up our offensive woes 100% to the scheme change or lack of talent, but I think those are much bigger factors than those who already want him fired are willing to admit. This isn't meant to be some ringing endorsement of the guy, though, as I'm sure there are innovative OCs out there who could have gotten more out of our offense than he has thus far.

I have accepted that we will probably finish the season 1-11. Realistically, the coaches will remain in place for at least 2-3 years. We can only hope to see improvement over the course of the season and maybe look competitive against VT and NCS by mid-November. I'd like to end the season with a solid recruiting class and an established starting QB going into next season.

... Then you're a ööööing idiot.
I honestly though we showed improvement on offense. We had basically the same YPP as Temple did. We certainly shouldn't let the OC go mid season. We're not at a point where we can really be winning football games with what we have. Not enough to make a difference, anyway. Let Patenaude take his lumps and get us through this transition. Then let's see where we are.

This organization is rebuilding and recruiting hard. I really don't see an uptick for GT until year 3, unless we get a lot of good transfers to play OL, and get lucky at QB. Patience, daniel-son.

We do add a 5* DE, 4* WR, 4* DB, and several ‘20 EEs on Day 1 in 2020. That will help. Plus any other future transfers that get waivers. A few key inbound OL/DL and we could take a big step next year. The defense has looked good right out of the gate. Wouldn’t expect it to be worse next year.

Never hire an OC that has 'Pat' as the first three letters of his first name or his last name, I guess. Surely there are some Ralphs or Pauls needing jobs.

Talent doesn't answer the question of why he calls down counters and reverses on 4th and short.

Ineptitude (kinda rhymes) seems to fit.

Hope that the staff can grow quickly and put out some better gameplans.
