Just read Jalen Camp also out for season (per AJC)

With an eye to the future, I would move TO to WR now and get him reps.

We aren’t going to win much, if at all this year.
Not a bad idea. If he ever wanted to make the NFL, that would be the position

Correct

Likely incorrect. Transferring or quitting for various reasons is possible. Likely at least one will. But good job trying to stay optimistic when we're at rock bottom!

I don’t think we can do that this year unless L Johnson is back 100%, maybe even then.

Otherwise you need to burn J Yates’ redshirt and I don’t think you can do that (at the very least for recruitng reasons).

What would burning Yates' redshirt have to do with recruiting? We already have a QB coming in next year and will be recruiting one for 2021 I assume.

He means you want to keep TO practicing and prepping as a QB in case Graham goes down and Johnson isn't 100%.

I understand that. I specifically asked what would burning Yates redshirt have to do with recruiting? If we go ahead with Yates as #2 while Lucas is injured, go ahead and start prepping him. Burning his redshirt has no bearing on recruiting.

Because other head coaches will be in the QB's living room saying that Geoff Collins will burn your redshirt and negatively impact your potential to play in the NFL it it helps him win 2 games instead of 1 in his first year at Tech (assuming we win another game). With this OL, it is stupid to try a true freshman that didn't win snaps in camp.

Or, CGC doesn't know how to manage redshirts, he started the season with 3 QBs, one got hurt, and he burned a QB's redshirt to move one of his QBs to WR in the middle of the season. Maybe he'd burn your redshirt in order to make a bowl, or some other reason, etc.

Or, CGC will process you to clear your 4 years of eligibility if you don't win the starting job in year 1.

Further, CGC says it is a player driven system. He evaluated T Oliver to be a QB for 10 months, then convinces himself that he's wrong, flips him to WR, and burns a kid's redshirt in the heat of the schedule instead of just managing the roster by playing A Brown, M Carter, A Sanders, J Blancato, O Jarrett, N Cottrell, J Hawkins-Anderson, etc at WR. Now, another head coach can say he cannot evaluate a QB, develop a QB, manage a roster, etc. You know they'll bring up that he is a defensive minded coach with a short head coaching resume to QB's. You can't hand them negative recruiting material.

If you think moving to T Oliver to WR is a good idea, then you do it next year. L Johnson as a 6th year with some game film, J Graham as a R-Sophomore with some game film, and J Yates as a R-Freshman with a year in the system, plus T Gleason works as a redshirt unless he's that good. T Oliver gets 2 years at WR and more KO returns to put plays on film for the NFL and you still use him as your wildcat QB to mix it up, also great for the NFL. Then if T Oliver can get on a 53-man roster as a WR / KO returner, CGC can say he successfully took a QB that couldn't beat out TQM or LJ as a starter and got him into the league making $570k as a 23 year old.

In general, it is a bad move to consider moving T Oliver to WR this season. The upside is essentially zero. This season is toast, but it has been since December 2018.

TO getting reps at WR would payoff for next year, plus take about 20 less hits a game this year. Let a walkon be QB #3. It won’t change our record one bit.

Yates can still play 4 games. That leaves a lot so unless both Graham & Johnson both have season-ending injuries at the same time then I don't see why having Yates as the 3rd string would be a problem. Hell even in that worst case scenario you can always put Oliver back at quarterback.

Dont think you have any concept of rock bottom fot GT athletics.

- in Carson's ( i believe) 1st or 2nd year we were forced to play what would have been the 5th or 6 th string qb if there were such a creature.
- a game at GF with appx 17000 in attendance.
- a game at AMC with about 700 in attendance
- TWO embarrassments vs furman.

"Fans". Riiiiight.

I thought you stopped supporting Tech football. Cancel that Sling subscription yet?

What’s worse than a bad team?

A bad team with extraordinarily ööööty luck.

What's up with all these injuries? I though our strength and conditioning program were supposed to be top notch,
