CPJ speaks

I don't think this had/has anything to do with Collins. I don't think Johnson would do that. I expect that Johnson would talk to Collins directly if he had an issue with him but I expect Johnson doesn't give a f at this point.

Now if you want me to come up with something that might get Johnson's ire up (but still not enough to call out Collins online) then it could have been Collins' comments about how GT used to block in Johnson's scheme. Collins phrased it in an interesting way this week and said it at 2 different conferences. He said our OL were like trains on a track blocking 3 yards in front of them, where the new scheme they have to learn a lot of different type of blocks.

I think there is some truth to what Collins said in a very general sense but there is also the fact that our OL did learn a lot of different block, scoop blocks, pulling, trapping, were expected to block downfield so Collins left out a lot of the nuance.

I think what CGC was getting at was that our OL were heat seeking missiles with a single target determined pre-snap to hit. It wasn't intended to be derogatory in the sense of the complexity of the technique in achieving that goal.

That's what I took, anyway, when he mentioned "running a track."

I wasn't trying to say I took it negative. I love Collins. I was trying to think of something recent that Collins said that might have irked Johnson and that was the only thing. It was pure hypothetical and as I said I don't think Johnson was referencing Collins anyway.

I don't think Johnson cares or knows what Collins says so I probably shouldn't have mentioned it.

The legacy of Paul Johnson is pretty simple: Great offenses, bad defenses.

Could've recruited better. Left the program with a talent disadvantage (how much is debatable).
I don’t know whether to be mad at the guy because he left GT with such a talent disadvantage or absolutely amazed he was ever able to win a game.

This is a ridiculous comment. If Collins or any of his staff are ever half as efficient in producing well designed plans or adjustments to teams mid game let alone as high a performing team as Johnson was his offense we will win plenty of games.
