Cape Game Uniforms

Companies change their brand when they have to because things aren't working. You think the dynamic ribbon or Coke bottle are changing anytime soon? But Pepsi fiddled with their logo precisely because they're trying to figure out how to stop being second fiddle.
I think you misread my comment or at least missed the sarcasm part at the end. You and I are saying the same thing. Our brand isn't working right now. We ARE second fiddle. CGC is working to remove that label with new branding.

Yes.

Probably not as many as you think.

Yes it should, because that's how you bring in sidewalk fans and recruits.

Nobody said we were changing the school's or uniform's official colors. This is a one time specialty uniform. Jeez.
Exactly my thoughts here.

Sort of: of course we have a brand but at this time it is a relatively unpopular brand in more ways than one. That is what is being changed; having people talk about your program is a good thing. If we can do that with new and exciting uniforms, then I'm all for it. One of those uniforms was the all white, FWIW and the other was a gold top that everyone loved so we can be different and still have influences from our history and traditions.

It seems an easy concept that we need to grow our fan base and fill the stadium while schools like UGA & Bama have other considerations. We need to make inroads in recruiting; they already are at the top so why should they change or modify what is working.

This is a very special thing we are doing on Saturday in more ways that one. I really think you have to be an odd person not to appreciate that and want it to be a positive experience for everyone involved, in every way.

Hahaha, I'm actually 28. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for innovation but invitation that sticks with tradition. To what we are doing on Saturday, I think Tech is trying to make a good gameday experience to draw in fans but there's still a long way to go. The execution if poor at best this season. I've been pretty disappointed, to be honest. The stadium definitely needs some upgrades. New paint to hide abundance of rust. New PA system that doesn't crackle and mics cut off, etc. I'll be honest, I love BDS but other programs are doing some crazy cool things to their stadiums and atmosphere to impress fans and recruits. Take the lights at Sanford stadium. I hate to admit it but those things were awesome really do stick with recruits. I think Tech should focus on bettering the overall production of the game day experience. That makes everyone happy.

OMG! Not this fallacy that GT has this staunch tradition in regards uniforms. That öööö is so far from the truth that it is hilarious. Find a 5 yr period where, GT unis were the same?

Hell if anything, white and gold has been made a priority since CGC stepped on campus.

Can we just stop the fake news please?
I looked in the GT archives & teams in '46,'47 '48,'49,'51,thru '58 then 1960 thru 1968 all wore white jerseys for the team photo. I did not see one for 1950 or 1959 & by then I got tired of looking. Those were the " Golden Days " of GT football & the look was consistent. So how is that for your 5 year period ?

Seriously? You're going with the "we did it back in the 60's" argument? Some of the parents of today's recruits weren't even alive back then.

This would be true, as regards a consistent jersey for the team photo, for every college team I’m America back then.

It's either like a more chrome/metallic gold GT that's reflecting more light, or some faint pearl white. Either way, I dig it.
I do too. But I also dug the honeycomb helmets. Not the uniforms though. They were trash.

So recruits are going to care that we wear uniforms that are not school colors ? Lots of people that are not Tech fans know that Tech traditionally has worn white jerseys at home & it should not matter to non Tech fans whether Tech wears white or not but Tech should be recognized at a quick glance at a television highlight or game hence the need to wear a recognizable uniform that is tradition . The school & uniforms should remain white & gold .
FWIW, It might be better if nobody recognizes us this year.

I said odd not old. ;-)

Almost every team in College Football has worn a specialty uniform that had colors that weren't theirs (EG: FSU wearing black, Boise in Gray, Michigan State in Bronze).
This is the first time Tech has worn a non tech color since we wore black in the 80s. And the gray has significance in the history of Tech football anyway.
Chill. This isn't ruining tradition, and it's for a good cause.

Also, this is the first time I can remember that we have a uniform that has ZERO navy in it anywhere.
Is the ACC patch navy?

The photo of the actual uniforms it looks like it is black but in the uniform outline that was also posted the patch looks to be Navy

Well actually I was replying to your statement that I could not find a 5 year period where jersey color was consistently white. So who cares if today's kid's parents were not alive. The point is Tech should ALWAYS wear white jerseys.
Dodd had it right & for one thing they are cooler for the players to wear than a dark color.
That is all . I am merely stating my preference for what Tech should wear but apparently a lot of you young whippersnappers don't care.

You just gave me the first reason I have to appreciate them.

Also of note as far as details, it looks like the logo used on the helmets is not the traditional helmet logo, but the standard GT logo used everywhere else.

I don’t like the stipple stripes on the shoulder and pant stripes. I like the numbers. Love the helmet.

There’s a lot of tighty-whities getting bunched up in this thread. If you could get through the years of Russell, you can make it 1 game.
