Well, we’ve got a QB

They showed this stat on TV — that UNC line averaged 40 pounds more per player than our D line. Also separately mentioned that our OLine collectively gained 85 pounds before the year to beef up... but are obviously still tiny.

Without looking it up, I would guess UNC OL outweighs it's DL as well. Granted our DL is small; but isn't it typical for the DL to weigh less than the OL?

Trust the process guys. It's going to be a long few years to come but, with the right o line in place, we will get better offensively.
'
No doubt, but the guys we are recruiting this year are no where near the 6'6" to 6'8" 320lbs average that we are talking about.

Our OL was not terrible this game. I thought they made some strides. Graham had some time. We averaged 5+ a carry.

Graham missed a wide open touchdown pass and someone dropped a touchdown pass. That needs to get tightened up and should get better as the season progresses.

The biggest problem in this game was our front sevens complete inability to generate any semblance of a pass rush.

You don't 6-8 dudes to be good. It does help though, we have 6 guys committed that are legit players. I have studied the film. Look for tech to get a few grad transfers also.

The folks who have been complaining about how small our OL is all year might be in for some disappointment though.

The sad part is we have had this QB on the roster... Shame this wasn't his 5th start.... the OC should have picked one and gone with it... look at how well the UNC freshman looks in his 6th game... It has taking 5 GT games to even find one...What were they doing all Offseason and fall camp... I guess over hyping the program up...

Yeah it makes no sense that we didn’t have him out there playing while injured.

Graham threw a pick during a drive when Patenaude was rotating QB’s.

Just throwing that out there...

I think the rotating of QB’s thing was to give everyone an opportunity and keep their engagement rather than shaking things up too soon. As evidenced by the comments post Temple, CGC is really big on personal relationships and making sure everyone knows how much they are valued. Sometimes that message is received and taken to heart sometimes it turns people off.

It was mentioned on the radio broadcast that UNC's OL are all 6'6" to 6'8" and around 320 lbs each. Puts perspective on where we need to be
It was very noticeable in person. I took this photo towards the end of the 4th quarter and it isn’t great because the linemen had their heads ducked dow in the huddle listening to the play call. But even in the photo you can tell how much bigger they are.

Their right tackle was huge and the left tackle wasn't much smaller. They dwarfed anyone we had, with the exception of Clayton who looked massive and cut on the sidelines. Screw the NCAA for not letting him play.

There is no excuse for the QB rotation thing, you make it sound like the 'everybody gets a trophy' mentality' gone amuck.

Bah. Paul Johnson did it and you didn't complain. Last year when TaQuon was the QB, it wasn't unusual at all to bring in Tobias as the QB when were were in a 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 situation, especially in goal line offense situations.

Yeah, OL usually outweigh the DL on teams not in the SEC West but it's by design. You want immovable stumps on the interior so a 6'1 300 lb DL is like trying to move a 300 lb wedge and will look much wider than a 6'6 310 lb OL.

The big difference is that CPJ knew what he was doing, and consequently you do to; he was bringing in TO in short yardage situations. I'll give you half a point for a decent attempt to make an excuse though.

Also, thanks for making me think about our new 4th and short play, the infamous hand off from the shotgun formation for a 4 yard loss play.

The coaching staff deserves blame for various things, but this ain’t one of them. It’s easy after the fact saying “obviously they should have picked JG from the beginning”. But this is a kid that has his future in question here academically until recently. A kid who was sitting out due to injury just a couple of weeks ago. Not all freshmen QBs start off in equal situations, some things take time to settle.

Golden Graham!!

I just skipped through the condensed game on YouTube and our offense was surprisingly watchable. Graham threw some beauts. It's really encouraging our O is getting better because I'm fairly confident our D will get better with recruiting & Collins.

We could beat Duke next week. That would be a big win for us.

So true. For most of the game their QB had all day to throw. He actually missed some open receivers, @GTRules brought this up earlier, that would have resulted in at least one TD.

On the flip side of that, on the rare occasions where we successfully brought pressure, their QB got rid of the ball quickly and was able to connect with WR’s who were actually pretty well covered. Their 4th TD to go up 31-15 was once such occurrence. Another was in the 4th quarter, Curry got good pressure but their WR, again covered, just ‘outatheleted’ our DB and converted one of many 3rd and longs.

No. The difference is that you don't yet trust Collins and so you make these ridiculous statements and then try to justify them with "yeah but..." and sound like an idiot. Just stop.
