Defensive Regression

I know many on this board want to talk about non faith in the coaching even more so now on the defensive effort. At first we lauded because we obviously see better form tackling and good execution from our secondaries.

One thing we may not have considered enough is other coaches (especially now that we are in the meat of our schedule) are scheming against us now knowing our looks.

It takes a lot to notice nuances in football. Anyone have any insights?
@ibeeballin , @Longestdays ?
I think this has less to do with "regressing" and more to do with the opposing offenses becoming better.

People seem to give GT a pass for Clemson, being the first game and facing the defending champ.
USF and Temple are incredibly bad on offense. Citadel is Citadel.
North Carolina and Duke are mediocre.

OFEI Rank Team OFEI
16 Clemson .82
40 North Carolina .46
50 Duke .31
114 Temple -.74
115 South Florida -.74

Our defense should have been performing better earlier, since the offenses were so much worse.

Here is how we performed in points per drive per opponent compared to their season average (including our game)

Team Average vs GT
Clemson 2.98 3.47
South Florida 1.47 1.0
Temple 1.71 1.7
North Carolina 2.15 3.16
Duke 2.61 3.09

Based on this we have over performed against bad offenses and under performed when facing top50 offenses.

We all just need to remember that we had to endure Bill Curry and B*** L**** before we could get to Ross and O’Leary.

There is no spinning it. We are a bad football team.
